I need pics if possible of a weber installed with all the crap removed that you don't need. Seth said he just kept the EGR but I have seen people say something about the vaccuum advance and shit. What all is NEEDED to run the truck daily, and can someone please post a pic or point it out to me somehow.

I can take a picture of mine. I am getting ready to pull the EGR off. I called Weber Carbs Direct, and they said it may be causing issues during hot weather, which I am experiencing. My kit didn't come with the blockoff plate, so they said they would send one. My kit actually didn't come with A LOT of things.

But all you need to run the Weber is the vacuum advance. Thats all I will have once I remove the EGR. That thing is ugly anyways.

Oh yeah, the vacuum advance comes off of the carb, and goes to the dizzy. You can plug all the other holes. Standard pipe thread. 1/8" NPT where the V/A was originally hooked up, 3/8" NPT on top of the manifold by the EGR plate, and 1/2" NPT on the side below the carburetor.

my old toy had a weber on it... not sure if you can see it in the pic in my profile.

check my profile, i have a picture of it like that on a 78 20r. but its a 32/36 and i removed all the fenderwell emissions stuff. tossed it. i put a pipe plug in some weird thing in the radiator, one in the lower manifold and one up high on the manifold. i kept the egr valves and tube but removed and plugged all the vaccum stuff for it. i want it gone, but the kit didnt have a block off plate for the back of the head, just the part on the intake. also, for the valve cover, there are two holes. one went to the air cleaner and one went to the pcv line. im not sure what to do about those, so if i can get an answer that would be cool.

but yeah, hook up the vaccum advance line, i left that little valve thing in line. do i need it? i also gave the truck a slight bit more timing. runs like a champ even with stock exhaust. i got a header to go on soon.

oh, one more thing. if you have the smog pump, you can remove that and the lines to and from it. i didnt, i just pulled all the stuff from it and removed the belt to it. i want to keep the a/c usable for when i recharge it and put an idler in the smog pump spot. it makes a shitload of noise if you let it spin with unhooked lines.

okay its on the motor, and will crank but i need some help. when i crank it, it revs way up. like 2k+ way up. and doesnt stop i think, i dont give it the chance lol. i unhooked every vac line pretty much, that i could take off, nothing is going to the carb other than vac advance, and im not 100% sure which one needs to stay. read somewhere there was a "port" and vacuum" hose, which is which?

also, the egr plate i ot, has a vaccuum fitting on it. I plan to just plug it, am I wrong doing that? Until I can make one, I was going to just use one of hose rubber vacuum caps from the part store. One major thing I have no clue how to plug is this little bowl thing. its got a good size hose, like 1.5 inches or so. it runs up under th intake, to a little bulkhead i guess, then over to the bowl lookin thing. what do i do with it, or how do i close it up.

the intstructions say they are kinda set from factory so im not going to fuck with settings quite yet....

I would tube it as soon as you get ti started and idling okay. Turn it to the right until the idle drops. Then turn it back out to the left until it drops again, and count the turns. Put it right in the middle.

If the idle does not drop off when you are turning the idle mixture screw to the left, your jets are too big. I ran into this issue with my carb. It floors out on hills and hot days. I'm trying to get Weber to send me either a new carb with the right jets (so I can stick this one on my I6 250) or just get the correct jets. So, tune it when you get it running. That way you know you have the correct jets.

okay so heres the update for anyone wondering. i have it running, but not where i would take it out on a drive. it idles, but dies if you come off the gas quickly from ~1500-2k (sound anyways haha). ive got it as best as i can, i still need to plug some vac lines, so that should help a little. i have them covered, i wouldnt say sealed though. i will do that tomorrow morning. im wondering though, it whistles, and whines, does anyone know what that is? is it just the carb? something i didnt wrong?

also to be 100% sure, i unhooked the way i had the vac advance and reversed it. it raised the rpm's and i left it on that setting....am i correct on leaving it on the one that raised the rpm's a little bit?

anyways, im going to try and find a good shop to mess with it, theres some old schoolers down on the other side of town. once i have things plugged up and all.

any ideas as to how i could smooth the idle? i have NO idea how to do the fast idle or mixture, as it does nothing for the mixture. and i dont feel like i should touch the fast idle not knowing what im doing. atleast it runs....right?

Didn't it come with instructions? Mine where pretty helpful.

And it should idle around 800 RPM or so.
