i never liked the upper control arm setup on the s10's being angled so far. seems to pull the tire up into the cab when they are lay'd out on big wheels. not sure never really messed with one just seems that way from all the ones i've seen.

the yota clip just makes so much sense as far as geometry and price are concerned. and the with and bolt pattern don't need to be messed with. only drawback is the steering ain't all that pretty in my opinion.

everyone is saying yota for fitment...but your gunna be fabbing it anyway...Dude s-10 tubular arms, drop spindles, calipers, rotors, bearings are WAYYYY cheaper than anything else. And i bet it would be pretty easy to use your ranger steering with and s-10 outer tie rod modded on. I say go for it. Oh, and most 4.5 wheels have 4.75 pattern as well.

ohhh..and your not really talking about the whole front clip...you mean more aloong the lines of putting the S-10 suspension parts onto your ranger frame, right?
I think that is the difference between what Todd is saying. cuz he is right if your thinking about doing the WHOLE frame clip.

Let's see what wheighs out here. If your wheels have 1 lug pattern then do Yota unless you got cheap racers and want to upgrade. Either way you are looking at moderate fabrication. Yota front ends have a wimpy bitch engine crossmember, the lower control arms suck and baggin the front sucks.CAN-DO makes some impressive shit for Yotas. I think Steve's the best with a Yota. He's got a tech full of pics for his independant lower arm. S-10 may have different track width but you can section the crossmember, modify it for the oil pan if needed and section tie rods. We've mentioned the great selection of control arms and drop spindle and don't forget how inexpensive they are and what's the sense of having a badass bridge set-up and having stock control arms up front? The front can hold 2600's and they ride sooooo good. The S-10 DOES pull the wheel toward the firewall when they lay out but just about ever other vehicle on earth does that because it helps distribute "pot hole" shock with the forward motion of the vehicle. I would totally scratch out control arm ranger stuff.I think I-beams are better to deal with then damn ranger control arm trucks. I'd rather do straight axle Gasser then have to do ranger control arms. Have I mentioned how much I hate ranger control arms?

when you change the track width, you also have to change the steering drag links. the center one, usually made of cast will have to be fabbed. you cant change the track width and just shorten the outer drag links, if you do the toe will change drastically when you go up or down. like toed way in while down and way out while up.

much easier to use the Yota clip. you can brace the engine crossmember or make a dragable one anyway. you can also get tube arms for Toyota cheaper than S-10 in most cases.

sounds like the yotas take less work, i need something cheep tho, does anyone have pics of the yota arms on a ranger?

building mine right now.. The difference between the yota and the ranger is about a inch.. With the toyota being narrower. This helps when you roll low as you can turn..

As far as toyota's go it cost me $200 for a full front end from firewall forward and like $250 for the spindles. It will have just about zero camber change going from full lock to full lift, plus you can get roughly about 10" of lift on a 6" slam bag..

If you want to see pics of the slam specialties look at the Under Construction section for the build up of my truck..

Like everyone else I'd say go Toyota.. It almost fits so perfectly as the toyota starts to widen the frame it almost meets the stock width of a ranger to a "T"..

I know of 2 rangers peronally that are bodied on s10 front clips and both lift and work fine. both are from michigan and one is the one with the aviator front clip. and the other is blue with green flames. both were in minitruckin's first pages of the ITB 07 coverage behind nicoles pink/white s10. i know the builder pretty well.

the question is the track width of the S-10 clip versus the Ranger clip. the rest is just cutting or welding. The Toyota clip is a much better solution but if you can get an S-10 clip cheap, it may be worth a look.

Why everybody got to hate on the 98 and up ranger control arm setup? Shit I'm bodied on 22's with this front suspension.
