Just cut out all the metal for my step notch (buddy Pete cut it with a plasma and I clamped them together and ground them smooth and even). Do you see any potential problems with my design? They're 3/16 steel. I put the holes in so I could plug weld it for extra strength. I'm just a little paranoid since I want to tow with this still.

Thanks again,
Aaron

Looks good Aaron. Sure is a small notch for such large tires. Cannot wait to see it out trolling the streets

It is pretty small...hopefully my measurements aren't off The Armada frame cuts up real high in the back (probably for the IRS) so I really don't have to lift the floor much either. Thanks for the feed back.

Looks like a good design. 3/16" is more than enough meat- you should be solid.

Is the stock frame fully boxed over the axle? If so, that design will work out very well with those extensions on the sides. Good luck!

yeah, it's a fully boxed frame.

I'm actually new at welding...

Just bought a Miller 180 220v with Autoset...do these welds look like they penetrate enough?? Under those welds I 'V'ed the metal really well too.

Thanks,Aaron

im no pro by any means but id say that you need to weld a little hotter. they look nice but the metal should be a little bluer farther in. how high do you have it set?

yes, u should a blue hot area arond the weld with less build up on weld wire weld area but for being new at it it looks great, but looks wont keep u safe, need to burn hotter

And the hammer could use a fresh coat of paint. Looks good

That's what I was conerned about. I'm actually using the 'autoset' feature on my welder. Maybe I should just go manual so I can get a hotter weld in there.

Again, I V'd the edges of the metal end welded them as shown above. I also stitch welded in inside of the two pieces of steel. Then I ground down the welds since I'm OCD and need everything to look perfect.

Should I be conerned at all that these welds aren't sufficient?

I'm no pro either (obviously), but it appears that if you did some stitch welding on the inside you should be fine; however since this is a heavy armada, I think you migh benefit from some exterior gussets on that long side corner since that pivot point will be mount on there causing stress to that area?
