im looking at chop saws and was wondering if i need a metal specific saw or could i just use a compound miter saw with a metal blade....this isnt goin to be for daily use just for use on my truck.....

I believe a compound saw spins at a different RPM. If it not being used much maybe get one from Harbor Freight. I got mine there and have had good luck.

speed is wrong and the little dust catchers burn up...seen it

i have a hf one, cheap and works pretty good. sometimes i have to give it a love tap to get it spinning...but it is over 5 years old

The Harbor Frieght one is alright , but for couple of bucks more why not just order a Dewalt Model ? The DW871 is about 130-140 now plus shipping or about a 180 in stores . I would rather have Dewalt and the ability to rebuild/replace part then Harbor Frieght one that you just toss in garbage when done . Me personally I like the Milwaukee one the best

I paid like $175 for my Milwaukee HD model with the cast aluminum base. Its badass. HF sucks.

to be honest once my truck is done ill probably never use it again....thats the minimal amount of use im talkin about....

also my truck is already bagged im just mainly gonna use it to cut two 2x3 sticks for my frame rails to body drop my truck...im just gonna replace the mid-section of the frame not build a whole new one....

think of it this way with your Harbor Frieght chopsaw if you never use it again you will chuck it away so $105 for a 1 project saw . While with the Dewalt Chow or Milwaukee you pay 170-180 . You can turn around and sell it for 100 bucks easily after maybe even more and have a Quality saw to use on your project with a faster cutting rate
