AntiVirus XP 2008

another good progrqm to get rid of things is HijackThis .. It scans all the startup files, and processes and lets you know what is starting up on your machine.

Sometimes you can get rod of stuff with this other times they just automatically put stuff back in. Antivirus 2008 is one of those annoying programs that just makes me crazy when I see it..

I reformatted. My computer got so bad I couldn't even turn it on. Had to boot from a Windows CD.

i am a moron when it comes to computers i am having the same problems as above. how do you reformat? does it basically get rid of everything and start your computer over from like when you first got it? any help would be great. I have some kind of dell desktop.

From what I understand there are several ways to reformat, but only one worked for me. On startup you press F2 before the Dell screen comes up. Put in the Windows install CD that should have come with the computer. Hit enter when a screen comes up with multiple options. Then a screen will say "Press any key to boot from CD.." You have to hit a key pretty quick or it will start up like normal. From there I removed existing partitions and reformatted. It gives you the options and is pretty easy.

Someone else said that you can right click on my computer, and click on "Format" and do it from there. That didn't work for me, but I would try that first.
