Everyone has different luck with different products. Doesn't make either of you right. Both of you have been around the block so if we can just have you guys not argue about it that would be great.

Pat,

Do you have info on the HiJacker / CCE integrated pumps? I was on the CCE web site and couldn't find anything.

Hi Derek. I am sure you don't remember me but I purchase some Greer (blue) accumulators from you about 9 years ago for a Hyundai (yeah I know) that we fixed the juice on some 9-10 years ago!

Thanks in advance

tI'm not sure I haven't bought hydros in years. I hope he didn't stop making them. A lot of people don't like them because of the performance. Most hydro guys want to hop and those pumps suck for pressure. You'll have all kinds of problems trying put a lot of batts to them.

I'll move this post over here to save from cluttering up your build thread with this debater....

Pat has some very compelling arguments in the air vs. juice debate. I've been wanting to try juice on something and he's making want to even more just to be able to compare the 2 head to head. There are very easy remedies to a Couple problems he's expressed with air. Airline-----you can plumb your whole system with hydraulic line from any Tractor supply store for less than $100. WHen take into the account all the PTC needed with plastic airline......I think the cost would be almost equal. I don't run anything but hydraulic line. I have two 2 inch pieces of 1/4 plastic line on my truck and that was to slow down the rear.....even that bothers me. Tanks----18 wheelers run an air system...many without seperators...they have 100's of thousands of miles on them. Or you could use aluminum tanks...Valves----Brass valves don't rust. Bags---if installed properly....bags will last a long time. Just look at alot of luxury cars and semi's. I grew up on a farm and know the maintenance that hydraulic systems require. It's not an everyday maintenance but when something breaks...it's messy and very expensive to fix. Both systems have their pros and cons....the biggest one for me is. I can fix just about any part of my suspension in Lowe's parking lot. All it takes is a schrader valve and you can make it back to the house. Brass fittings are available almost anywhere....even wally world. I think it all boils down to you get what you pay for.....Go cheap on parts and you will have problems. One issue I wish could be remedied with air was the play time....however once your a seasoned bagged truck owner...you really don't hit them that often anyways.

This is another one of my personal opinions..

I feel that air ride shit is hideous. Like for instance.. a black tank with a bunch of miss matched brass fittings, miss sized air lines, and such.

I have seen a bunch of good looking air ride setups, but by far I have seen a ton of thrown together ones.

For instance here are a few juice setups..

I'm not bashing air, I've had both, but will never own a vehicle on air again.

James, are those compression fittings or some type of flare fitting?

Awesome stuff! Pat and Derek sure know their shit. At first I thought this thread was gonna be a hydraulic beatdown. Now I'm second guessing myself about putting air on my project truck.

Thanks Colin. There are some hardcore air guys that thing air is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and a few hardcore juice guys. My goal is to show people that hydraulics are a great alternative to air, and that juice has just gotten a bad rap from rumors, bad product, and bad knowlege.

I personally love the fact that you can get very creative with hydraulics (referencing the pics above) and even adapt some "industrial" hydraulic elements that aren't done too often and that can set you apart from the others.

It started back at Spring Splash 1994 and there was a Honda in the club "Running Wild" which was laid out on hydraulics. I couldn't believe my eyes of how low it was (in my mind it was flat on the ground) and then I saw it lift over 8 inches...then he started driving and it looked like it rode like a dream compared to my cut coils - I've been hooked ever since.

My first setup was a challenge as it broke all the time...it was rare that it was actually working correctly, but over the years I learned A LOT, and if I knew what I knew now, they were all very easy fixes and problems that could have EASILY been avoided (I was young & dumb).

Today, I yearn to have someone look at my setup and scratch their head and not be able to follow it, or how it works (although the concept is very easy). There has been a small, dedicated following who have seen the benefits of juice vs air firsthand and are now hooked themselves.

Hydraulics are not for everybody. But if you're willing to learn and give it a chance, you may be pleasantly surprised and question why so many (who usually don't know anything about it) hate it so much.
