Unless you do some serious modification to the upper strut tower (lifting it), it won't low very low at all on the air struts - meaning, you'd be almost better off just driving it lowered without adjustibility.

As an alternative, here is a hydraulic write-up of a Corolla Kevin from Just Plain Trick did:

http://www.justplaintrick.com/new/projects/05_toyota_corolla

No serious modifications to the car (just the struts), so it can lay and still be removed and reverseable.

Not really a write up, but quite a few pictures. Front looks simple as can be, the rear I'm not sure about. The more I think about it the more I want to use hydraulics on the Civic. I'd definately like to see something with written tech to go along with pictures if anyone has it for someone unexperienced with hydraulics such as myself.

And What is this...

i agree with going strait to juice for mcpherson struts. trust us!!!! i messed around for years trying to get it right and low, just juice it

got ya! the thing though is that it's for my wife and she don't want to lay out. she only wants tosit moderatly low and be adjustable. no unibody drops here. thanks though.i'm saving the juice for my accord wagon. lol

everyone leaning you to the juice isnt just to go lower its also cause mcpherson settups suck for air unless you want to get a airstrut. i havent heard anything bad about them besides you cant get as low.

whats everyones view on airstruts? piles of shit or great for a wife that wants a fun driver?

i say juice but i say that for anything that isnt a dually or semi truck

The bad part is that it's an 09 and there not making anything yet directly for this car. The only thing is the slip on uni bags.

ah i didnt even think of that. well someone makes a universal kit(easystreet or airlift). you can give it a shot. i would def not do air cylinders though, many horror staories as you probley already know. they cant take the stress or steering and holding the car up.

eric kristens car is dam near the same take a pic of the rear suspension an if its the exact same i can tell you how to do the back .. Kristens car is driven everyday drive from fl to ky for havoc an all over bagged only problems weve had with her car is ground wire wasnt big enough burnt up on the compressor an she got hit an the drivers airline leaked .. thats it it rides awesome an were gonne try this coilover deal soon we talked to the guy from severed ties with the red an black civic an he told us the same thing his sat like 2 inches lower in the front than kristens so kristens civic will dam near lay pinch if we do that

I'M GONNA KEEP DOING RESEARCH SO I CAN DO IT IN 1 SHOT.I'LL TRY TO SEND YOU A PIC JAY BUT LOWRIDER DEPOT TOLD ME THEY HAVE A SET ON STRUT SLEEVE BAGS THAT WILL BOLT UP TO THE BACK. I'M GONNA SAVE UP FOR THOSE AND I NEED TO GET A NEW SET OF FRT STRUTS AND THE BRACKETS FOR THE FRONT. I HAVE EVERYTHING ELSE ALREADY.I'M NOT SAYING MUCH LOCALLY. I'M JUST GOING TO LET JENNIFER BRING IT ON OUT WHEN WE GET IT READY.

On my car, universal air bags won't fit at my static ride height let alone go any lower. They are too large in diameter to fit inside the tire so it has to sit above, severly limiting drop. At 9.25" extended they needed to sit in an opening of around 7".

So instead of raising my car just have air, I am doing hydros instead

I'll ask in this post too... I know that mac air cylinders bend are a NONO, but mac hydro struts are good to go. Would it be possible to weld a hydro cylinder into a mac strut and run it on air? or will a hydro cylinder not work on air?

Also, why do air cylinders bend? to small of a diameter on the rod? if so are the hydros that much thicker to support a car?
