Unless you do some serious modification to the upper strut tower (lifting it), it won't low very low at all on the air struts - meaning, you'd be almost better off just driving it lowered without adjustibility.

As an alternative, here is a hydraulic write-up of a Corolla Kevin from Just Plain Trick did:

http://www.justplaintrick.com/new/projects/05_toyota_corolla

No serious modifications to the car (just the struts), so it can lay and still be removed and reverseable.

Not really a write up, but quite a few pictures. Front looks simple as can be, the rear I'm not sure about. The more I think about it the more I want to use hydraulics on the Civic. I'd definately like to see something with written tech to go along with pictures if anyone has it for someone unexperienced with hydraulics such as myself.

And What is this...

there pump mounts.

I am undecided but for the rear of my wifes car, they do offer full air sleeve struts that bolt up. the 09 corolla has the same suspension as the older 03-08's.If the back sits anywhere near as low as the xb's do my wife will be happy.I am using a universal bag on the front like on the xb earlier. If i run a 18" rim i have more than enough room to fit the bag in there.Going on the measurments and the given diagrams it won't be a problem at all. Keep a look out for pictures. It's going to the paint shop maonday and air after that. hopefully wheels thereafter. We'll see

I'll ask in this post too... I know that mac air cylinders bend are a NONO, but mac hydro struts are good to go. Would it be possible to weld a hydro cylinder into a mac strut and run it on air? or will a hydro cylinder not work on air?

Also, why do air cylinders bend? to small of a diameter on the rod? if so are the hydros that much thicker to support a car?

This is my last post for the month, so can someone please answer this? I'm just trying to figure out the best solution for the front of my car since it has a "design flaw" that makes kits for the same platform unusable

Thanks

You can not run air in a hydraulic cylinder. And even if you did find an air designed cylinder in the proper size, it would take several hundred psi just to get it to lift.

Most air cylinders that I've seen are aluminum and cannot handle the side weight. I remember a time when brislands was making a mac air cylinder, but not sure how they worked out.

I sound like a broken record with all my hydraulic campaigning, but they are your best bet for running on cars if you actually want to sit low without major fabrication to squeeze in an airbag.

I'm making hydraulic mounts for the front of a Civic with mcpherson soon. I'll make sure to take some pictures so you can see how simple and safe the 'juice option' is.

I'll be waiting anxiously.

I believe I read before (a few months back) that the ctlinders need to be mounted upside down for a Honda. Is that true, and if so, does it cause any issues with routing of the lines?

Damn double post. Wasted one of my posts for the month.
