im gonna cut the strut towers out tomorrow so ill probably have some more pics on thursday. i hope to lay the front on the frame rails. i measured yesterday and the frame is 3.5" and the rockers are 4.5" of the ground. i may go 3 inches and add some metal to the frame cause the motor is almost as low as the frame

ok here is what has been done so far. dont look too close cause its not even close to done. it gets about 1.75" lower now but its hitting the inner fender. after trimming it will be about 0.5" from frame to the ground. <a href="http://s533.photobucket.com/albums/ee331/leeannmyers03/?action=view&current=IM000668.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee331/leeannmyers03/IM000668.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee331/leeannmyers03/IM000668.jpg  the welds look bad case the galvanized coating on the stock sheetmetal. still need to gusset everything and clean up the cuts from the plasma cutter. the tower is now 3" higher <a href="http://s533.photobucket.com/albums/ee331/leeannmyers03/?action=view&current=IM000670.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee331/leeannmyers03/IM000670.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee331/leeannmyers03/IM000670.jpg   here is where the tire hits <a href="http://s533.photobucket.com/albums/ee331/leeannmyers03/?action=view&current=IM000669-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee331/leeannmyers03/IM000669-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>  http://i533.photobucket.com/albums/ee331/leeannmyers03/IM000669-1.jpg

great progress. I always thought about changing out my tower mounts to cobalt ones which would drop my car another 1.5" atleast. To bad I can't weld and wouldn't trust my friends to do it.

I'm not knocking your work or ability... If you went the hydraulic route, you would have been able to acheive an even "lower" stance without having to cut out those towers and it would have been completely reversable to return to stock at some point.   (sigh)

I just got to far into the air build (money wise) that its just easier to continue. On another point the HHR is looking great. I look for updates almost every day... I'm a tool.

its probably because of ignorance but i never liked hydraulics. if i was gonna do it myself it had to be air. i know its a car but if you think about it im not doing much more work than what you would do to a s10 and deffinately not as much as a ranger. plus i like to say i cut up a fairly new, perfectly good car. in the end it will be worth it. if i was paying someone i would have went with juice but doing it myself i wouldn't know where to start.   im deffinately not too far $wise into it i havent broke a grand and probably wont   hey adam do you already have the front bagged? and also you said you had the collapsed height of th easy street kit? i want to measure mine and compare. the main problem with my car is that the body of the strut is too long. it has like 16-18" of travel which you dont need

my car right is is Universal Air bags (cobalt kit) and the bags slide over the stock struts. I could get better stats, but the bags are garbage now, hence why I'm looking for a new kit.
