is there a big difference between one axle brakes and two??
jcampbell1180   +1y
Yes. On a two axle brake setup, both axles have brakes on them.

oh yea there are more brake pads if both axles have brakes

I have always found it better to have 2 axle breaks when towing vehicles. Just in case you have to lock her down in the middle of the interstate going 75-80 mph.

leave it up to lock to leave a regular remark

most 2 axle single car trailers have brakes on only 1 axle... some dont even have brakes.

mine had brakes on both axles but the rear ones dont work.....

just drag your truck to slow down....air brakes...kinda.... lol

air brakes hahahahahahaha

Anyways def. want brakes on both axles, too much at risk for a couple hundred dollars. imo chevy trucks don't have adequate brakes to stop the truck itself let alone a couple tons behind you.

I have found that most trailers have the mounting plate on the axle and some even have drums on them just no brake components. I ran into this on my 4 place snowmobile trailer only the front axle had them and they were only rated at 1200lbs which the trailer weighed more than that. I bought everything I needed off ebay for $100. I was also towing with a bravada with about 4000lbs behind it. The trailer liked to push the olds all over the place.

mine don't have brakes, it keeps the trip interesting.
