i have only pulled enclosed traielrs that had both axels with brakes on it....my old car hauler only had the brakes/backing plate on the frt axel and it was a heavy ass trailer(had a big box on the front of it) and it towed/braked just fine behind a 3/4 or 1 ton.

I just recently got my front axle working. I towed it over a year without trailer brakes.....

The wedge trailers brakes will lock the tires up with 2 trucks on it doing 30mph, got no idea what theyre rated for but they work!
