like i said it is not my truck but a guy in our club and another club member is building it, I believe he did the bar that way since the bushing ends were 2" so he wanted to taper the bars so it didnt look all bulky and ugly. i like this setup cause it's simple and functional it doesnt have 5,000 pivot point and hybrid setups and all that crazy stuff it's nice to see the simple once in awhile.

Those are awesome paint skills. My link bars will be straight.

That is my truck.. There is a link to it in the Under Construction section on this forum. Here is is..    http://www.streetsource.com/forum/topic.aspx?topic_id=104068   The reason for the sectioning of the lower links is like Cheeks said the bars are 2x3 square tube so to make them look right they were sectioned so that they fit the bushings. Just one of those things to make it look different yet still have a little custom flavor to it.    The bars are also tapered on different sides for each taper.. To answer your question though.. Running the bags where we did did not require the bar ends to be tapered. It was  a cosmetic thing.

The only way I can think of to really do it would be to run a bent lower bar, creating the clearance for the bag. Unless you have 3.5 inches from bar to frame now. Hope this helps. JR

I am going to Z the rear frame rails about 2.5", so there should be room.
