---------------------------------------------Originally posted by smithchassiswell the 15 years weve been doing it must be wrong then, but i dunno what kinda holes youve been cutting but we can take a monte carlo for instance make it do mid 60s and not have the hole oblong like that, but we are talking two different things here, so MAYBE with the low voltage you guys are running it wont hurt the shafts... good luck --------------------------------------------- Out of the 16 vehicles on your profile, 1 has/had hydraulics on it. I'm sure you know your stuff, but everything we touch is hydraulics - so just trust us that we know what we're doing.

First, I didn't say you were doing it wrong. The only thing I said is when there is only a hole drilled, the hole gets worn and becomes oblong. Also the cylinder gets worn as well. Doing it with the tube, like I have done will hold the cylinder from moving (which will eleminate any wear against the sides of the cylinder), since it doesn't need to. Is  it wrong to do it with just a hole, no, but it will eventually become noisy from the hole and cylinder wearing during everyday driving.Second, lets not turn this into a pissing match. Everyone has there ways of doing things. Just because your way is different from mine doesn't mean either one of us is right or wrong. I have my ways, you have yours.

This sure looks like a build where he is shooting to break the mid sixty mark.  Build is looking good!!Hopping in the mid sixties is different than being reliable and driven every day.

well if it turned into a pissing match id probably lose because i cant piss that far...   but in all seriousness, I know that hes not shooting for mid 60s range man im just saying that we had done it this way for years and had no problems weather it be a low voltage daily driven car or a piece of shit no front bumper bananna'd frame bumper mauler. Hydroholics is doing a great thing for the hydraulic industry by showing that if installed right, while using a good quality part, then hydraulics in many ways could out perform and ride better than an average air suspension setup BTW jeremy, how are those kinetiks when it comes to recharging, gillespie had 14 kinetiks on el sancho, and didnt have much luck when it came to running them low, and recharging... different series for them maybe? How are yours working so far?

I will admit, I was probably one of the biggest skeptics of the Kinetiks when used on Hydraulics. So far with them being on my truck and Rudy's impala, I am really impressed with them. They hold a charge for longer than any other battery I have used. I actually recharged mine for the first time about 4 weeks ago and they are still going strong. I know that Rudy is still running his with no issues at all. 100%, they are worth every penny!!! This Tahoe is getting 4 for the hydraulics and 2 for the stereo/ truck. I have seen many lowriders done like this (with a tube to hold the cylinder). To me it makes more sense, lets just leave it at that.

I am chiming in because I am really interested in seeing how the tube that the cylinder runs through works also.  I believe it is the first time that I have seen a cylinder mounted through a spring pocket with no movement.  A friend of mine had 6 inch cyliners in the front of his truck, which is an old body dodge dakota.  He had to run 6 inch cylinders because the 8's sat on the exhaust manifold and he did not want to alter it.  So, 6's where ran in the front with a spacer to lower the cylinder off the manifold and a about 3.5 coils of spring under the cylinder.  The cylinder still managed to touch the manifold, but it didn't cause any problems except when the hydraulics were removed, we noticed that the front cylinder was bend pretty bad about 2.5 inches up from the bottom.  My point is, when the cylinder was hitting the manifold, it was essentially hard mounted and not allowed to move around and I believe that contributed to bending the lower part of the shaft.  Everything still worked fine and the bent was far enough down the shaft that it didn't affect anything. I hope it works fine because I like how it looks.  This could be something that people start doing from now on if it works properly and that is the fun part of building a truck, doing something that no one else has. I can't wait to see the finished product.

will that same type of setup work on getting rid of the abs on my 06 gmc canyon? I really need the room and want to get rid of it

---------------------------------------------Originally posted by smithchassisThose cylinder shafts are going to hate you, even with the spring having a little movement and with an accumulator you will still need a little room for movement up top. I hope you prove me wrong though.  its just always been our experience that if it doesnt have a little bit of movement the shafts tend to bend, i dont know how thick your shafts are though.  sicsan, Pat has a collision shop in georgetown KY, we just had a unwanted get together ladst year due to the death of a friend, is was dean karns, pat, kasey hardin, brian gillespie and a few other old heads at one dinner table in a restaraut it was like 93 again lol

---------------------------------------------wish i could have been there for that. them were the good days
