Hello all,

Just wondering how many people on here are running this new AZ OB2 compressor? And how do you like it? Any issues?

Me and a friend installed one last night in my Nissan, it's the AZ OB2, the black one. Good looking compressor, noticed that it was pumping a little faster too from 2.9cfm to 3.5cfm (I think). But we have noticed one thing while the compressor is pumping, it's kinda hard to explained, all we could think of is that it's kinda "burping" for less than a half second power wise while pumping. It's fairly consistent right now and not really an intermittent issue, it's basically doing it all the time while pumping, you basically hear the compressor humming away and every like 10 seconds or so you hear a litle power fluctuation for less than a seconds (that's the "burping") then it humms away fine until the next 10 seconds or so and so on.......... Hope that makes any sense to anyone, I wanted to record it on video last night but could not.

Anyone experiencing similar issues? I know that it is a fairly new compressor but I thought I'd ask here because allot of people are on here. Besides that, the compressor is pumping fine and seems to be behaving normally. It's hooked on a 12gal tank right now.

I have had other compressors in my truck before over the years, ran VIARs mostly back then mostly on a 5gal tank. I also had the previous AZ OB1 on this 12gal. tank and none of them were "burping". So I am just wondering if this is normal? I no longer have my old OB1 so I cannot troubleshoot with another compressor for now.

Thank you in advance for everyone willing to help me out!

We have sold quite a few allready with no complaints. I actually have one setup in the warehouse that we are going to run some test on after lunch today. I havent had anyone call with any questions about a BURPING sound. You are running adequate wire and only running the compressor while the engine is running?

One comp for 12 gallons sounds a little rough...

My alternator is 90AMP as well. Thanks for you answer Mike, sounds like there is something wrong with my comp. But let me know if you hear some more about them, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Rule of thumb...for every 5gals of air you want 1 compressor. Haven't heard much on their new compressor. I use to use their compressors on my last two trucks. It was really hit n miss.

Yes everyone, I'm already aware of the above fact, but I doubt that this is my issue since that I've seen many poeple running 1 comp on 12gal tanks. I had my previous AZ OB1 on this 12gal tank and it was not "burping" at all and working well. But Kris, I kinda know what you mean by hit n miss. I'm wondering if this is what's going with my OB2 now. Thanks!

I don't know which one I had, first gen silver one, but it made the same sounds your are talking about while running. After about an estimated 4~5 total hours of use, it failed. They basically told me to shove it. It's still sitting in a corner of my room. If yours dumps and you get it warrantied, let me know, I'd love to get something resolved...

Thanks for the information Seth! Now, I'm feeling a bit better knowing that someone else had a similar issue, I will definitely let you know when it fails as I am expecting it too eventually, it only has about 1/2 hour of use time now, I will make it work more this weekend to see how it goes. I'm up near Montreal, Canada and I ordered it through a shop, basically the OB2 is brand new out of the box, so when it craps out on me, I'm giving it back to the shop and the guy already told me that he would replace it free of charge. I also know a couple of people here that had the OB1 installed, they worked well for less than a year and one day, they basically decide to not work anymore, burnt motors I think. Warranty has been good though, they replaced them but I kinda miss my VIAIR now

i went thru 6 air zeniths on my truck in 8 months...all the same problems... burnt motors. when they would send me a loaner comp that would shit out too.... and no nothing was wrong with wiring or anything... I can say im glad i switched to my two viar 480s
