GM never ceases to amaze me. They kill of Pontiac and Saturn (of which the sold over 500,000 of last year) to keep Buick (taking American taxpayer money to build and keep a car to sell in China) and GMC (duplicate of another truck line already sans the Avalance) , let the UAW create massive salary, pension problems, over price their product and expect Americans to feel sorry for them. I read the other day on CNN that the average American household needs to make in the 35k to 40k range just to afford a decent GM product. By comparison, the Imports (if they can be called that anymore) market there vehicls to the 20k to 25k household. What is wrong with this picture? The main reason I bought my Nissan Titan is due to it being 100% assembled and made in the USA. Plus I got an incredibly nice truck for 25k. I went to a local Chevy dealer the other day and looked a new 2500hd.....Damn with a Duramax it was $52,000 who are you marketing that too?  GM, Ford, Nor Chrysler ever thought that Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai were ever a threat and now look. Let them fail. Capitalism is survival of the fittest.

Buick has a decent following in the US. It's huge in China. Where what do you know they like the big cars. GMC was always an upscale chevy. Always had better looking designs. I'm surprised it made it through but the larger size trucks GM makes are usually GMC's. Pontiac. They ruined that brand years ago when they cut their nuts off to standardize everything. The rebadging Aussie rides came too late and was still hindered because of the vette. Europe, Vauxhall, had some bad ass versions of the GTO and G8.   Saturn- Roger Penske is a potential buyer. He would get the dealership network already in place and possibly make it a 'niche' brand offering rebadged rides from multiple manufactures. Similar to the original GEO concept with less emphasis on small cars only.     I know around here there have been a few chevy, dodge and ford dealerships that have shutdown over the past few years. Mainly doing market corrections.   They've already been addressing some items for a few years. They just weren't as fast as Ford was at cutting down the fat and working on bringing products from their outside US groups. Ford took some big swings at dealer count last year but that wasn't news.   GM would have been in trouble much sooner if its wasnt for Bob Lutz.
