---------------------------------------------Originally posted by MaterFuel is making it to the rail correct?---------------------------------------------yes, fuel is definately making it to the rail. it is not making it out of the injectors tho. i can remove the rail and gas poures out. you can also see the rail move (when unbolted) when you turn the key one click, powering the pump. i called autozone and they do not rent a gauge but sell one for $35 2morrow is day #2 and i really dont want to go to bed after having  no luck. gonna get a fresh start at 7am

ok,  1st check and make sure that you have a good connention and good voltage at the Crank postion sensor. That 2.2 does not have a dist, the ECM uses the Crank trigger to fire both the coil pack for spark and to control the firing order and timing of the Injectors. The fact that it fires on fuel directly entered to the engine via the throttle body means that it obviously not getting fuel from the injectors. You should read about 5v DC at the sensor with the ignition on. Make sure you ground the volt meter or you will fry the sensor.  2nd - if that is correct. Have you check the pressure regualtor on the fuel rail it self. They can get gummed up and seat closed.  Anti theft deacctivates the ignition and fuel circuit. If it runs on straight gas you can eliminate that.

A buddy of mine had a very similar problem but it was on a 350. Try playing with the connector on the coil pack, it could be as simple as a bad connection there or it might need a new coil pack

well, i just got b ack from the dealer in town and he told me that the column and the bcm are "not talking" to eachother. in laymens terms, it has gone into "ANTI THEFT DETERRANT MODE" meaning they are not working together to make the system function. when this happens the fuel injectors will not allow the truck to run, cutting them off. nowi need another column and bcm, or tow it to the dealer and let them "try" to reprogram the bcm to match the column.........

ok, so i found a local minitrucker who had a standard cab s-10 that was recently rear ended. it is a 4 cylinder, 5 spd BUT its a 1998, all my computers, motor, etc is for a 2001. im going to be getting the column and bcm module.  anyone think there is a problem lying there?????? compatability issues??????

thats exactly what i was gonna suggest next, was to check the column.. i bought a tilt column to increase leg room, but once i installed it the truck wouldn't fire. I was told the same thing about the module. I didn't go any further with it. im interested in seeing if the dealer can "reprogram" it to work, not a bad idea. As for the issues on compatibility, i wouldn't think so. But it would suck to find out the hard way.

man, its all pretty damn crippling. ive read so damn much the last 2 days, i cant remember what my shoe size is anymore. some guys defeat this by getting a new bcm, others over ride the unit, resistors, jumper wires, its a damn mess. ive tried 3 columns, 3 bcm's, 2 computers and still nothing relevant. i am literally 5 minutes away from taking out my 2002 s-10's column, computer and bcm and trying them all in this truck. the only thing really stopping me is if the code gets tripped, does this mean i cannot re-install them all in my 2002 in working order? or will they be "locked out" by a damn code..........oh to own a gm now-a-days..just tried this as well..........heres the recent attempts conclusion:GM PASS LOCK RELEARN- Ignition to "run" position, try to start and let key return to "run" position Approx ten minutes security light will go off Turn key "off" and wait 5 seconds after turning the key off, the SECURITY light went off, YEAH....Repeat 2 more times for a total of 3 relearns. Turn key off, then start it upon completion of the 3 cycles, the motor now has no steady security code, but now blinks and the truck will start for approx 2-3 seconds, then slowly dies.this is extremely close to what Brian (orange) was asking if it was doing earlier, well, im there now sir, but still no starting. i guess rome wasnt built in a day, let alone 3 days of madd frustration in a sweaty garage.......<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- google_ad_section_start( weight="ignore)" -->
