cash for clunkers! what a waste c.a.r.s.

i work at a wrecking yard and these rigs are rolling in some make me sad! this is the engine disable sheet for a C.A.R.S. (cash for clunker)  here is the one that made me sad! (sorry nissan guys) it only has 114k on it how is this a clunker? wtf!  look at the interior! flawless!  more shots of the rig. it even has the factory pop tie down hooks in the bed rails! waste!waste!   most of us wish we could have a truck this nice to start out with!, i bet there is some one right now that would buy it! no questions asked. but guess what you cant!  the engine has been destoyed( see engine disable sheet) and  the vin is locked down cannot be reconstructed.this is the stupidity that pisses me off. just wasteful-ness plain and simple. this program is great for some who needs body parts or interior, but why not donate the rigs like this? that arnt clunkers!  

There offering 4500 bucks towards a new car that is why. As sweet as these rides are there are no way that someone would pay the 4500 for them. If people could most owners are not willing to wait a month or more for a sale they want a new ride.

I wouldn't pay $4500, let alone $2500 for that truck. It's 22 years old. Give me $4500 towards a new ride if i'm the owner, hell yeah. The junk yard is full of trucks like that one here in Phoenix. How is it any different than if that person wrecked it or blew the motor? There are still plenty of old minis out there.  

my father in law got 4500 for a sebring convert. with 250,000 miles. ran ok but was a piece of shit. fuck it. if it gets pieces of crap off the road then its ok..

I thought about takin my toyota into the dealer.  I probly wont get 4500 for it once its done.  They wont take it though because its not registered.  JK

Our Government is stupid really to give that much for junk in the first place and then they are just destroying the cars and trucks atleast sell them as parts. We all need parts!

In all honesty its a way for everyone to buy a new car and try to get as many people back into debt above their asses, keep big business going(car dealers) and get rid of used cars, used car dealers etc, and the bad thing is i have seen many of these so called clunkers go to the crusher that would easily push 20-25 mpg, thats the government at work for ya though

Looks like it has 141K miles not 114K.

 

it definitely has 114k the first 1 is just a little dark. the only upside i can see to this is it may drive up the cost of older minis as they become harder to find. i just wish the govt would give me $4500 cash outright instead of giving it to some a dealer for a newer car. id rather spend the money on a used GSXR and a cheap project
