I had a hole in my gas tank one time and tried everything to fix it. The gas tank puddy stuff, different patch kits, nothing worked. I even tried this petroleum stuff that they use to seal underground gas station sumps and it still leaked.. The only way is to weld it up, but you would have to drain the tank and somehow get the fumes out of it, i heard you can use dry ice. I would rather buy a new tank than risk welding on it. So i just bought a new tank from a wrecking yard for a 100 bucks.

there is a metal body filler that someone makes and it's not jb weld lol,  but you mix it just like bondo or filler and when it dries it's just like metal and you can sand it or grind it smooth and it seal pretty good.  i've used it a few times and i didn't think it was all that bad of a filler.  never thought about trying it on a tank but might work.

They sell it at autozone... It comes in a 5 inch roll and its a 2 part, so when u mix it in ur hand, it activates

Summit has a fuel tank cleaner and fuel tank liner i came across in their tools catalog. could probably use it to clean it out then weld it up and use the liner to make sure itllstay more leak free. SUM-900056-1 for the cleaner $17.95/qt and SUM-900056 for the liner $27.95/qt. Says a quart will cover a 16-20 gal tank.

I had a leak from one of the rivets on the bottom of the tank on my xtra cab. I use a bar of soap and it worked really well but was never really fixxed untill I took the tank to have it welded up

I had a hole in the tank of my accord wagon about 6 years ago and used some stuff called Seals All.  They sell it most auto parts stores, its in a yellow tube.   I havent had any gas leak out of that hole since and its on the bottom side of the tank.
