I triple AAA towing bill from NC to FL would probably be over $1000. You would think the transmission place would be responsible for getting the truck down there since they obviously put a bad transmission in it or fixed the stock one poorly. They knew I was out of state and probably took advantage of me. Does anybody know if I can make them pay for the transportation cost of getting the truck down there?

I'm just curious!  Why did you let a transmission shop that far from you fix your transmission? And have you tried calling them and asking them to work out a deal on letting someone else work on it in your home town and them picking up the bill long as its a reasonable rebuild and something that went wrong was something they did fix the first time and not a new problem.. (I don't know how extreme they went when rebuilding it the first time nor what wrong with it now).. What about pulling the transmission out and shipping it to them? You pay to send it and they pay to send it back?  I'd be willing to help ya get the truck there but I'm in Alabama.. Good luck bro!

I drove my truck down to Florida back in March for Spring Fling. On the way back Sunday we stopped for gas in Jacksonville. After leaving there I couldn't go from 2nd to 3rd. So we stayed the night at a local motel so I could get the truck fixed the next day(Monday). So we stopped by this transmission shop that was recommended by a couple of the locals from different locations. So I went to the shop the guy says I have a transmission, that he had already rebuilt, in stock that will fit your truck. Its a 05 GMC Sierra 4x4. As far as I know they swapped them and I was back on my way to NC within like 6 hours. The reason I want to take it back down there is because the transmission has a warranty with it. If I was to get it fixed up here it would cost me another couple grand. But now this transmission has now done the same thing. I can't go from 2nd to 3rd gear. As far as pulling it out and shipping why would I do all the hard work while they sit back and collect? It's a 4x4 so the transfer case is right in the way. Plus shipping would probably be several hundred there and back. There not willing to pay for any other shop to fix it up here nor would they pay for the shipping of a transmission.

Well looks like I'm going to be renting a F-150 to tow it down there myself with. Transporting it would be way to expensive. Would anybody suggest me using a F-250 instead or should the 150 be enough?

Try to get a long F-150 to tow.  Ext cab long bed or something.  It'll help it handle better.  I'd recommend a 250 but price might be higher.  We towed my friends ext cab chevy on our dovetail with a Crew Cab Nissan Titan and it wasn't fun.  The trailer wasnt quite long enough to get the truck on all the way either tho. -Ryan

Yea I was thinking of getting a 250 but I'm thinking the 150 will be plenty. I just verified with the guy that it is a quad cab so length shouldn't be a problem. Forgot to ask him what size motor but I'll call him back tomorrow. I called at 5:01 and he was already gone.lol
