In an attempt to revive some interest in the North East, myself and a few others have been talking about planning a show in Maryland for 2011.

We all have been to hundreds of shows and know the ins and outs, but what we are wondering is what makes shows like Tex-Mex, Showfest and Scrapin' the Coast so successful? These shows seem to draw people from all over the country and the world.

Now I know people won't be driving cross-country for a first year show, but what is it about these shows that draws people from all over the place?

Thanks, "Downtime" Matt Hodgson

Some of the most memorable shows ive been to, have a few things in common that i can recall off hand. I love shows that arent in parking lots.  I like grassy grounds, a place to put up a canopy tent, and sit under with a few cold drinks, hang out with everyone and not feel like your melting on the asphalt... I also like the shows that let you come and go as you please... i dont mean just going in and out all day for no reason, but atleast being able to head out at lunch time with your truck, and check out the local area. Kinda piggybacking on the previous statments, but i HATE it when you get packed in way too damn tight to a show.... if you cant open both the vehicles doors, and walk in the middle, its too close.  I hate that shit. I appricedate a show with a laid back environment also.  something not right in the city, but just a bit outside of town... still easy toi find, but not so conjested that you sit in traffic for a few hours.. one thing that makes me look foward toa  show... is knowing that im going to see some of the baddest trucks on the planet thare.... thats why i really go.  I love seeing other peoples work.  I like checking it all out, and auctually seeing it in person, not just in a magazine.  Couple that with the others listed above, and you got me. I think alot of people like when shows give you the option of camping on site.  itf just adds a certain amount of fun to teh show   idk, thats just me....

I think with Tex-Mex we got so big so fast cause we did what we like, we took something from the shows we always liked going to and tried to expand on it! We were in no way the first to throw a kick ass river run but, a Bob Hase style run in the central U.S. helps draw people from all over, Tex-Mex is not really much of a car show as most would know it, but more of a place that people from all over the world can get together and have fun, drink a few beers and get to hang out with people that you don't get to see but once maybe twice a year. its more about FUN than wining a trophy, thats why i think people like our show and why we support the show we like going to! KentSevered Ties TexasTex-Mex Staff

atmosphere. if you have a no drama show, more people will wana go. having everyone know what is going on helps(staff) not jsut standing around going ask so n so. location is a big deal to, i dont wana have to drive 20 miles from the hotel to the show.

I really appreciate everyones input so far (except Henny). We are really hoping to be able to have something to show for all of our hard work in 2011.   Special thanks to Mr. Bob Hase, although I have never met you personally, I certainly know who you are and plan to pick your brain as we nail down plans for our show.  (and the Mr. is not because you're older then I am, its out of sheer respect).    Please keep the suggestions coming guys.   - Matt
