I could care less for trophys.....I won a trophy at Art of Noize Bring the Noize and could care less for the trophy...I dont even have the trophy. The guy that built my truck has it. The only thing I got happy about when my truck won was the fact that someone else thought my truck was nice. Just someone saying my truck looks nice is all the appreciation I need.
Thats what is wrong with this scene.... No one appreciates shit besides the same thing over and over again.

In closing

If you are going to bitch and complain about not getting a trophy, you are in the wrong sport.....Special olympics might be the sport for you then...Everyone gets a trophy there..

You could add to it the fact that its more who you know than what you have built, when it comes to getting into a mag.

I tell you what I have come to firmly believe. Just build what YOU want, buy what YOU want, but roll something custom! and roll it with PRIDE! Be out there!!!!!! That is the key to everything. If you love your ride do all you can to keep it, roll it and enjoy it to the fullest. Life is SHORT enjoy the little time you have rolling something custom. I have a lowrider style 98 S10 I baught new, a 90 SFBD B2200 and a bagged 65 Maliu rag. None have been featured and all show wear but I'm proud of them all. Everytime I'm out I get attention, some good, some bad, some great, and its the great times that make everthing worth it. As long as you are out there, and as long as you have your ride and build it for YOU, your best day just might be tomarrow.

ive seen it all to much as well. with shows almost every weekend in central california through-out the summer i see the same people over and over at various shows. after being in the scene for over 20 years i pretty much know when i see a winner and i know when i see someone whos in it for the mantle hardware. as long as its called a "show" there will be competetion there for a winner and those less fortunate. were all taught from youngsters "to be the best, you have to beat the best" and for that we will always have shows and winners at those shows. ive been kicking around the idea to many about having a "get-together" rather than a show that $20 or $25 gets you a little dash plaque or a mug and a shirt and thats it. no judging, no club rivalries, no bad blood amongst those who feel the need to call themselves "the best" by being awarded a $10 paper weight. "HELICOPTER " knows the cen*cal scene all to well, i think we showed at the same places probably 8 times or more this year. its funny, you dont see the older hot rod guys throwing each other under the preverbal bus such as we (minitruckers / full size) owners do. i have a shit-ton of trophies if anyone wants one or 2.............. one planet, one scene, one lifestyle. do whatever you do, just do it the best you can!

Most shows are considered a competition and thus will have winners and losers. I've been both and I think it was a positive experience either way. When I was losing at shows it made me work harder and do more on my vehicle to make it that much better for next time. I wasn't all sore about it I just got in gear and went to work. When I won at shows I had pride in knowing all my hard work was paying off. I was being rewarded for my efforts. Name calling like "trophy chasers" makes it sound as if someone who's out to win a competition is somehow evil or something. As a matter of fact I'd rather see someone roll into my show who's a serious competitor than someone who's just come to party, get drunk, and trash the town

honestly fuck a trophy.....i like cruising in my truck more than waiting around at a show all weekend to see if i won some cheap plexi glass with a sticker on it. i like when people around town or outta town not with the show give me and my truck crazy looks. plus another thing is im way too lazy to fill out paperwork to win something.

honestly i dont really care to bother with complaining about people who do go for trophies. some people do some people dont man. there's 2 sides to everything. my truck is sponsored by my pockets so what do i care to let someone judge it to see if im deserving of a shining paperweight? i like hanging out with people into the same thing. drink a bit, do some dumb shit, laugh about it, make memories! life is too short to bitch about other people.

Shows are what has driven many very high caliber and expensive rides to be done. Look at where we are now compared to cruising the streets in 1987. The quality and quantity of all these builds have skyrocketed due to competition. If you wanna get together get together and just hang. If you don't wanna compete don't. It's your life. Just be grateful for the things you do recieve and the recognition you receive for doing something that your heart drove you to build, and that may just be a look as you roll the street. Build it for you and you will be happy. Calling people trophy chasers or losers is just bs and not necessary. This scene as some call it is headed for destruction as many guys that are just too cool for the school parade around as you are some type of super hero and all the enthusiats(ones who buy there parts at cost) are left leaving shows as if they had not accomplished anything, when in fact they are the one's fueling the passion. The car stereo competitions years ago got the same way too big for itself and got to the point where joe average had no shot at winning, so then they stop going to shows cause they get discouraged. Bad business for all. I compete cause I am a competitor and love to and do win. I hate to lose but I do know that losing keeps you humble, so I would take humble and no trophy any day of the week. A wise man once said and I quote John Wooden "A man may make mistakes, but he isn't a failure until he starts blaming someone else."

for me every day is a truck show i drive my custom truck to work 100 miles a day. to see peoples check it out and comment on it everywhere i go is my reward.

plus i have something cool to cruise at the truck show.

a lot of people down here in Texas complain about the shit at the heat wave show. but they leave their quality rides at home. when it cost the same to show as if you spectate.

I'm totally cool with paying 20 bucks to hang out at a show with my friends and support our scene.

just my 2 cents

I've been around for a few years (first club logo was back in 91) and I've been to a lot of shows. Currently I know my truck isn't trophy worthy and that is cool for me. It's in the process of getting built still.

The thing that means the most to me is when I hear someone talking about my truck and what has been done to it or I make a comment about it and they say "That's your truck I thought ____________ was cool how you did it." The first comment that I ever got like that was when I frenched the emblem in the tailgate and got props for that. To me that is what I appreciate more than getting a trophy.

One of these days my truck will be at the level I want it to be till then (once it is rolling on it's own power again) I'll take it to the shows represent my club and support the people that spend their time and energy throwing the shows. If I get a trophy for my time cool, if not I'll still enjoy myself just as much as if I did..

i love how there is some random guy on here every week, "rebelling" against the current state of the scene. quit acting like youre pointing out something new. its been the same way forever, and it will never change. and guess what? your precious "scene" will live on just like it has for many years. you can sleep good tonight.
