The problem is not if your a trophy chaser or not but the fact that at alot of these big shows you spend alot of money on entry fees and when the guys judge a truck they spend 30 secs on it and that is what pisses people off. I have judge shows for a while now for different people even have put on over a dozen shows myself and I like to take pride in my judgeing and know that I give every car a fair shake and make the competitor feel like they recieved a fair shake. I have been showing trucks and cars since 1995 and I have won some and loss some and as long as the judges took the time to look at the trucks and judge them like they should the loss was not bad at all because if you go to a show and pay the entry fee get judge and sit the awards then you wanted a trophy be honest. If you don't want the trophy and say I'm here for the "sence" then just have cruise ins no trophies and no fees.

I agree with what you said about getting a fair shake. Over the past 5 years i've been involved in this, hobby/scene/lifestyle or whatever you want to call it, i've been to as many shows as possible. I've won some and lost even more. To me it sucks when a judge walks up to your ride, spends all of 24 seconds looking at it and walks off. I know at alot of the shows the judges get overwhelmed with cars to judge so i understand. But like most have said on here, it's awesome to get recognition for something you have created or inspired. Thats why most of us do what we do. The daily recognition from people passing you on the road sometimes is just as good as placing at a show. For me the best feeling is when im on the smoothest road in town, rosedale hwy usually, or olive dr, and 1/2" off the ground rolling by people, with an old snoop dogg cd playing, and everywhere you look it's all eyes on you, and you know every person who has no clue about trucks thinks your shits broken or something. But when i look at my truck and what i've done to it, i realize i dont need half the shit done to my truck to cruise low and listen to a stereo. And thats because all the rest of it is for the shows. The countless hours we all spend perfecting the most minor details in our show trucks isn't to impress "Joe Blow" at 7/11 or BK, it's to gain the recognition from others involved in the scene. I enjoy winning trophies/recognition just as much as the next person, and have built my truck to be competitive at shows, does that make me a trophy chaser? If so oh well, if nobody goes to shows to win trophies then people will stop throwing shows and then where will we all be?
