I figured I'd throw a build thread up here so ya'll can follow along. Here is the run down: Started with a 1984 suburban. The frame was pretty sketchy so it got scrapped. Its now a full frame made from 2x4 1/4" wall tube steel. JB Chops is doing the front suspension. It will have MMW jeebus joints on custom built control arms. It also has rack & pinion steering out of a newer truck. Paul bought a cummins diesel to put up there as well. Rear will be a simple bag over the axle. Rear end was narrowed to fit the massive 26" one off Raceline smoothies. Once the frame is done the body will be set on (cut out floor first) so body mounts can be made. Then a square tube floor followed by sheet metal will be burned in. Once all that is done the rear doors are getting suicided. Here are some pics and more to come. Enjoy!

I'm not feeling the lower link mounts on the frame and the axle, as well as the way they are setup. There is a huge gusset thing hanging off the side of the frame to hold the lower link in place... but then there are two really long tabs hanging off that. Would have been a lot cleaner with a tube inset into the frame to hold the link bar off the side of the frame and then a simple double shear piece with the bolt going all the way through the frame rail (through the inserted tube). The angle of the lower link needs some help also, especially if you plan on towing. They are pointed at the ground, and unless you plan on driving 12" off the ground will still be pointed at the ground at drive height. It's an easy fix, if you feel like fixing it. The mounts on the frame could be raised up... as simple as putting tabs on the top side of that mondogusset piece. You could even do a tab that wraps the top and front side of the mondogusset and raises the pivot up. In combination with raising the pivot on the frame rail, the lower link mounts on the axle should be dropped to hang below the bottom of the axle tube. I have hung them down as far as 6" to get the proper geometry.

Just trying to help... take it or leave it.

I appreciate the response. I like constructive criticism especially from someone experience like you. I was having a hard time finding a spot for the links. I couldnt get the uppers in a place I liked them inside of the frame. I decided to build the wedge on the outside for a mounting place and put the upper link tab on top of the lower tab. (havent dont that yet because the axle needs narrowed still). Now as far as the lower links go they were already on the truck before it was tore down and wanted to try to reuse them. Should I scrap what I've done and start over? I'm trying to avoid a big cross member mounting point because of the cab space but if what is currently done isnt a good idea I'll start over. Again I appreciate the help.

Here is a pic of what I was planning for the upper link mount but plated for strength.

gonna be sick ...but he cant raise the mounts to much unless he wants to lose alot of the rear floor for the seats

Having the link bars running at such and extreme angle will move the center of the wheel really far backward in your wheel well as the truck inflates.
