My truck must be an odd ball then cause I have the 4" taken off the top w/ no Z and it lays rocker.

yeah man the c-30 frames vary truck to truck. some need a Z and some dont. its the weirdest thing

well mine laid out without the Z...but the control arms laid on the dirt...so i Z'd it a couple inches to keep from draggin them off and so it wouldnt have to camber so much laid out

Maybe one assembly plant used a different frame than others. Chevrolet did that at least one other time I know of (tri-five passenger cars).

Best I can find out, 1-tons were built at Flint MI, St. Louis MO, Baltimore MD, Ft. Wayne IN, and Oshawa, Ontario Canada.

What I'd give to see a good write up on how this is done with pics.

I Can see where dropd80s method would require less or no 'z'. When you do this- do you still have to 'channel' the cab floor? Trans tunnel?

But, 'Monzter's" theory the sheet metal of the cab remains unchanged- yet would require a deeper 'z'. Correct?

I am hoping to lay out a 88 dually- soaking up as much info as I can.

The problem with doing it the way monster suggests is that you have to have more travel in the suspension. If you built your suspension to lay frame and then cut off the bottom 4" you will be 4" from layed out. Also you will have to raise your tranny, fuel tanks depending on what you got now. Just some thought I'd point out those things.

when you cut the 4 inches off the bottom of the frame you have to Z it atleast 4 inches to lay out....but im thinkin the gas tanks wont work...they would most likely drag...and thats never good

We did a suburban by way of cutting the bottom of the frame. One the tunnel still had to be moved your front frame horns have to down a mile and this gets tight on the radiator. also the notch was huge just my thoughts.

You would have to z it probably close to 8", the 4 you cut off the bottom of the frame and the 3-4 it takes to lay out flat frame.
