Thanks for the input. How long did you have to wait before they sent you the dominators?

Id assume if sd is promoting them, they should be good.

The new Doninators are great bags. I have run ALOT of Airlift bags and I have some issues with the old ones, but they finally fixed the problems with their new Dominators.

The main problem with the old ones wre the stupid crimp fings they used to secure the rubber to the end caps.

They had a tendancy to "pull" or seperate completely from the bag, and the results ususlly sucked...ok always sucked.

Now in Airlifts defense this was USUALLY due to improper installation, but not always.

The other main problem was the bag material itself was made of a real soft rubber. It tended to deform after 6 months- a year of regular (not heavy) wear and tear.

They have fixed these problems with the Dominator. The rubber is much thicker and there are no crimp rings, and they beefed up the inner bump stop.

But that being said, I would not use these bags in an area where space is at a premium. Like if you only have a 1/2" before it rubs on something, only because it will "relax" more than a Slam will. The height you can get out of these bags is phenominal. We put some on my buddies S-10 and with an old Airlift bag on one side, and a new Dominator on the other...same air pressure we gained one inch of lift...pretty sweet!

Give youself space around the bag, and you'll be VERY happy.

wow, you must've used big pressures or big spikes in presure to get the bags to come apart like that

Thanks for the info Lophat. I'm sure Trey has been keeping up with this thread, but I will make sure I mention this to him just in case he missed it. Sounds like maybe I should have been wanting these bags all along instead of the re8's. I was told the bags should be here monday. I cant wait to chek em out!

Nope, the second one (2B7 Airlift bag) came apart at 100psi...it was only about three months old when it failed. Main problem with the bags is if you have them mounted where mid lift the bag may bend/arc...it will pull the crimp ring off.

The first one came apart when the owner decided to jack the truck up on one side to change a tire. He dumped the bags to let the air out when he got the jack under it.

He jacked the truck up and the offending bags'-tire was still on the ground he got the tire off, and the other side blew.

I was there and couldn't believe it. There was about 20 psi in the bag, the tire was on the ground, and it blew.

We still can't figure that one out...I personally checked the tire, the bag, and the gauge to be sure it wouldn't blow, and it read 20lbs, and the tire WAS on the ground.

From that day on I swore off the Airlift Bags with crimp rings.

No worries with the new ones though. I have installed them on a buddies truck, and the ride quality is friggin wicked!

More tear down pics. Got the front suspension tore down, and the fender wells removed.
