89 Sqaure body dually, on the cheap

I'll probably end up putting the Lecarra wheel on it from the parts truck. I think I might have a nice looking grant somewhere too.

What do you mean by "steering console"? Same as column?

Anyone have ideas on where to get longer seat belt receivers? I'm going to try an upholstery shop. Maybe they can just replace the belt section with a longer piece. If they can I might have them replace the belts on everything.

That's the one I used, and it's not even perfect. The one I took off is probably fixable, but not worth shipping. Would be good for someone who was going to widen/stretch theirs. I still have a good left side (drivers) but I'm tempted to hold onto it.

I might not even be able to keep it. The guy I got the truck from threw it on to get it on the tow truck. We'll see if he asks for it when I give him the drivers door and he gives me the pink slip. I didn't want it to sit without a door to keep the neighbors happy, and also keep the damn neighborhood tomcats from pissing in it.

It just looks odd from that angle. When you are sitting behind the wheel it blends in with the instrument panel.

Solved the seatbelt problem today. I just drilled holes for the front center belts in the 1980 location and backed it with a plate and a welded nut. Practically free and that way I don't have multiple holes visible in the carpet. The rear seatbelts work ok, the holes weren't off much.

Also finished up the last couple details of the manifold swap. Really just a retorque and put in the passenger rear bolt, which it turns out had been broken off in the head. I didn't think anything of it when I pulled them. Oh well, I'll have to live with it for a while.

I stopped my a smog shop I've done computer work for. He pretested and it will pass, but he thought the cat was marginal. I'm taking it to a muffler shop tomorrow to fix the tailpipe and put in a Hooker max flow. I might check a price on a cat from them. The one that is on it is ridiculously small.

Not much progress lately. Here's a couple shots of the old exhaust manifolds. Thought it might be amusing for some.





Removed all the glued on emblems from the sides of the truck. Started touching up the paint. It's really amazing how easy it is to make white look good from 5-10 feet away. Duplicolor linen white, primer and a DA sander and you really can't tell unless you get close.



I need to see about getting this fixed, unless anyone has one they want to sell me. I've been told $80-$150 to fix it. I've been looking for a couple weeks now and haven't found one for sale. Older Weld wheel.
