Well, I got the truck back in October when I saw it in the Austin craigslist. It had a new radiatior, power steering pump, a/c compressor, front rotors/pads, tires and the interior was in good shape. As soon as I got it home the 454 started knocking. I took it to the shop and it turned out two rods had spun bearings. So I had the 454 rebuilt/ bored .040 over, added some compression, deleted all the emissions crap, and when ahead and got all new hoses, new water pump, new balancer, spark plug wires, K&N and motor mounts since everything was already apart. Once I got the truck back I had the Th400 rebuilt since it was leaking at the front and rear and it needed a flush. I replaced some lights and repaired some wiring and now every single thing works on the truck. I got rid of the rear bumper it came with and got a '90 model 'burban bumper off of craigslist, I also got the front airdam off of the same 'burban. I already got a C&C rear from a junkyard that I'm going to have rebuilt before installing. And I recntly bought some milled freightliners and adapters off of craigslist aswell. In fact I have gotten so much crap off of craigslist for the truck I should just call the truck the craigslist special. The tires on my 16 in. Eagle alloys (which will be for sale later) are near new now so they will stay for a while. As soon as I install the C&C rear I'm going to level the rear with the front and mount up the 24's and then bag it.

In this pick you can see how everything is tucked up into the frame. I removed the fuel tank covers and had a new raised exhaust with flowmasters and turndowns after the cab installed so the truck can lay nice and low when it get's bagged.

^^^ In this pic you can see that I switched the location of the high and low beams, all I need to do is hook up the lights in the '82 model bumper I installed and it will look slammed at night.

All I can say is I got a hell of a deal on them. Although I'm going to be running teenagers on the inner rear. And then the next day I checked craigslist and drove down to Alvin to buy the adapters off of another guy, he had them on a lifted '87 CC with 22.5's.

When I first saw it on craigs It instantly got my attention and I noticed it had been on there for a while. So I called the guy up and told him I would be there that weekend to check it out and would take it home if I liked it. Well before the weekend came around I found out I had to go out of town that weekend due to work and could not drive to Austin to check out the truck. Since the truck had been on craigslist for a while I was scared someone else might buy it that weekend so I gave the money to my dad and asked him to do me the favor of driving down there to check it out. I said, "check it out, take it for a spin, and if it looks good buy it." And like I said, as soon as it got to Houston the engine started knocking. So when I got home I had squarebody that I had never seen in person with a very loud clunk @ idle that I had to have towed to a shop. I just thought, "damn I should have waited another week and I could have got it a lot cheaper." It was a body shop's shop truck. They started the business with it and they called her Big Red. They said it sometimes pulled up to 5 cars, so the engine didn't exactly have an easy life.

Most excellent, Dude. I've always liked those 81/82 model year front bumpers.

You've got a real clean start...as I have regretably come to find out, that's half the battle.

Thanks. It will deffinately be a lot easier to get the truck where I want it since it doesn't need that much restoration.
