I'm not sure what rims will be the final decision. I didn't get a chance to go pick any up yet. I've been pretty busy and am out of town until they open again monday. They have about every type of used big rig rim you could ever imagine out there. I'm thinking about just getting some "pete" style rims or maybe one of the other styles and running them like they are after they get milled to a straight 22" rim. Not sure though yet. As soon as I pic a set up I'll post some pics.

I've been super busy lately and haven't had much time for any of my own stuff but tonight we managed to get a couple free hours to try out the new welder. I need to get the engine and new NV4500 trans on the chassis so while Kyle has it he can fab a new trans X-member. We also finally bought another engine hoist for the shop last week. So tonight we picked the engine up and sectioned the oil pan sump down 2". It should be tucked up above the cross member about 1/2" now. We only found 1 tiny pin hole after it was all done. I'll weld it up in morning and it'll be done and about ready to be moved.

I still need to source an adapter plate for a manual trans for the Cummins. If anyone knows where I can find one for sale please let me know. I need one asap but it has to be for a manual. They're different from the auto adapter plates from what I understand.

Well we got the chassis all bolted and tacked together and dropped it off with kyle at Guilty by Design. He's hoping to have the chassis and suspension finished up in about 2 weeks. Not sure what he's got up his sleeve. I told him to go crazy on it. All I know beyond that is I know its getting 1/4" 3"x4" rails and hes using 3800 pound bags in the rear and dominator 2600's in the front. Whatever he comes up with I'm sure it'll be bad ass.
Also my stock Dana 70hd axle was like most if not all others in these trucks and had 4:11 gears in it. That's all fine and dandy for a 55mph speed limit with an old big block and .50 per gallon gas but the new Cummins isn't going to like it very much. I do a lot of highway driving. So I got lucky enough to find another Dana 70 on CL with 3:73 gears in great shape for $100. So with that under it and the new 5 speed nv4500 it should be OK on all the interstate trips now.

Is a factory Chevy rear end? I can't find anything with lower than 4.10s

I think it is a factory rear axle. Its got all the part numbers stamped on the ring gear. Its a Dana 70HD for sure with 3:73's. I could believe what I was hearing when the guy told me what he had. I made him count the ring and pinion before i even went and than I did it when I got there lol. I've never seen a dana70 with anything other than 4:11's.

As promised here are a couple pictures of the truck as it is right now. I had a guy come in today and get the glass cut out and started finishing the firewall.
I have a couple of pictures of kyles progres thus far. Hes only had it for a couple days and is making great time. I'm really digging the way he's going with it. Its going to be sick when its all done and back together. I'm just not sure I'll ever be able to put a bed floor in it and hide the bad ass frame.

I'm really going to have to think about what color to do the
frame in now. It was going to be satin black or rhino lined but after all that bad ass frame work I'm starting to think maybe we should paint it to match the trucks body. The truck is going to be blue/silver or blue/ gold or copper. Maybe paint the frame the main body color or the accent color?? Any ideas or thoughts??

Frame looks great. Is he gonna make the under slung part of the frame un-boltable so the rear can come out easy? Like a small section of tube that has a flange on both sides? Keep the pics coming!

Another little sneak peak of the chassis work. I finally got the Cummins and 5 speed NV4500 joined together today for the first time. I loaded it up and hauled it down the road to Kyle and we got it mounted on the chassis so we can get the trans x member modified to work and build the new 4" turbo back exhaust. By the way thank you Steven. I couldn't have gotten the engine and trans wrapped up and loaded today without your help at the shop.

The opening in the side of the frame is big enough for the axle to come out.

I dropped off the new 3800 lbs bags at Kyles shop today. The chassis is looking g bad ass. The lower link bars and wishbone are on it now. He's mounting the 3800 pound bags on the lower bars. I was amazed at how huge these bags were. I snapped a couple pix while I was out there. Enjoy...
