What an annoying ass hole. Please someone ban these people and delete all of these spam posts before I pull my hair out and kick a puppy.

Now that we have the new body shop I have a place to work on the truck again that's really close to the house so I can finally try to get some real progress made.
I thought I had finally borrowed a truck big enough to easily move the Dually....or so I thought. The truck and trailer were both on loan to me so I was already trying to be super careful not to tear either up. I thought the hitch bar on the flat bed of the tow pig looked pretty weak but he assured me that he pulled his big tractor with it all of the time. Upon further inspection I found that all of the welds holding it together were cracked.
So I had Kyle from Guilty by design weld that up and off we went. (Thanks by the way Kyle).
We got the truck picked up and all seemed to be going well.

And than we noticed the entire hitch bar was bending and flexing. Kyles welds held like a champ and if I hadn't of bad him reweld the bar and what little bit of bracing there was there's no doubt in my mind it would have snapped off.
Not sure how well you can see it but if you look closely you may be able to see the entire drop down C channel section is bent and twisted backward.

Some how we managed to limp it back to the body shop without ripping the bed in half.
We got it pushed as out of the way as we could and pushed it to the back of the new shop. It's actually in a shop I work at every night so progress should be pretty steady again now.

Thanks Kyle for helping weld the truck up and Casey for riding with me and helping me load everything.

I finally got around to starting on the truck again with the help of some friends. We got the cab back off and I've been trimming and welding on the firewall, trans tunnel, and tubs all day. 1 more day on the fire wall and trans tunnel and it should be ready for seam sealer and under coating. Since I decided to use the stock top piece of the tunnel I've got a couple of small areas to patch in before its sealed up. After that I just have to finish trimming and welding everything for under the cab and it'll be good. I'm sure the welds I put inside the cab would hold it but why not weld it from both sides to be sure.
I also finished up the fire extenguisher air tanks today. I just used some 1.25" square stock and bolted it to the frame.
As soon as the cabs done the engine is coming back out to section the oil pan and pick up tube and it'll also be ready to be cleaned up and painted.
After that we're going to make roll cage type of assembly on the back of the chassis to mount the upper link bars off of and house the fuel cell. It'll be the same height as the top of the notch all the way across the bed.
We also went and picked the bed back up last Wednesday. So for the first time in probably close to a year all of the truck is in one location. Having a forklift next door i was able to borrow(and still havent returned lol) made unloading the bed and moving all the truck parts around much easier than the days of working in my back yard under a tent for shade.
Now that the truck is taking up a lot of the new shop and we have customer cars waiting to come in ill have to keep my ass in get to get it done and out of the way.
Anyway enough of this stuff here's some pictures.

You can see the obvious areas I still need to get sheet metal welded into.

The air tanks done. About like everything else just waiting to be smoothed out and painted.

Well I've been super busy with the new shop, and customer vehicles so I haven't had a lot of time lately. Not to mention my daily started falling apart on me. It was a bagged and bodied mazda, and didn't even have a heater or AC due to the body drop. Since winter is upon us it seemed like a good time to repair or scrap it since it was in need of repair. Long story short I spent 2-3 building a new daily driver. Had to get it bagged, and put the engine out of my old one in it. But its done now and I can focus back on the dually.

While I was busy with everything else I made the decision that I didn't want to run the dodge overdrive trans behind my cummins. So I got the auto sold off for $1200. A couple days later I found a 1997 NV4500 HD on craigslist and it turned out it was about a mile from me. So I got that picked up and started getting all of the parts I need to swap it rounded up. I've got everything I'll need except a bell housing and a master cylinder/ slave cylinder.

Anyway now it's a 5 speed and I should have time to start on it again this week. I'm hoping to have it at least moving under its' own power in the next month or two. Customer cars just have to get done first lol.

i decided to do the same thing with mine. i ditched the allison trans i have and found a brand new nv5600 for cheap. my clutch and flexplate just got here this week as well as my new slave cylinder. my pedal assembly should be here next week. post some pics of your new daily when you get a chance!

Here's a couple quick pix of the new daily. I haven't had time to finish the bed yet but not bad for only having a couple weeks to take it from bone stock with a bad engine to a bagged daily. it was a super clean never molested truck from the start. Has all the factory trim, some rare options, and a working Ac and power steering setup. Its the first truck I have ever purpose built to be a daily driver and I'm glad I did. It rides great. its got a bag on bar setup with denominator II 2600's in the rear and air lift 2600 in the front.

So I think I've located a clutch pedal setup for the dually to go with the new Nv4500 HD trans but I'm not sure if the pedal assembly needs to be from a hydro boost truck or if any pedal setup from a square body will work. I've heard both ways. anyone know for sure?? Also what's a decent price?? I found the pedal assembly from a half ton if I can use it for $30. Seemed like a steal to me.

okay i can tell you this because i know from experience on my cummins swap. the 90-91? chev truck came with hydraulic clutches so the pedal assembly is different and works well with the tennessee diesel conversion clutch conversion. i opted to make something and save some money ($400ish) so i got the pedal assembly from a 73-88 that had a cable clutch in it. i removed my speed cable and ran it thru another hole. i than opened up the hole that the cable was in and the grommet fit perfect. i am not sure what style clutch master cylinder u have, mine was the one off the getrag(the trans prior to urs). my style slave does not use bolts it is push in and 90 degree twist. i just built a braced plate off the side of my pedals. and works great!!! stock brake light switch and everything with parts and pieces from the new and old pedals. theres more to it and i am more than happy to help if interested. u can check my build thread on 4bt swaps.com
