You guys seriously gripe too much.

I've looked through this forum, I see plenty of heavily modified trucks on here, some with crazy paint schemes, and otherwise some with modifications so extensive the vehicle barely resembles its original form.

YET... nowhere as of yet have I seen such an overwhelmingly negative response to any particular project idea as here. The only reason I can deduce for this, is because my project idea just so happens to challenge the normally masculine ideals held by the car modification community.

Now then: I ask you this...
So what?

This truck was purchased by me, for a sum total of 1000 dollars, plus 800 dollars in repairs that needed made immediately thereafter. Had I purchased a toyota Corolla, I would have done the same damn thing.

But: given that I like this little truck, I am going to do my best (within budget) to produce a nice looking truck, that will turn heads, especially in the community that I am presently involved in. Jesu! What a tragedy. Its such a shame that when I grow out of the fandom (if or when that happens) that I will look back at the vehicle I poured my heart into, and suddenly despise it because of that tie to my past.

As if.

I bought this truck to have some fun, to fix some things, and most importantly to get to and from work.

I came to this community to get ideas, see cool ideas implemented and import them into my own work, so that when I am done with my project the result is better than it would be were I alone.

I did not come to discuss the details of the fandom to which I belong. You gentlemen most likely do not care, and I understand that. The only reason I cared to mention MLP is because that is the theme I am using for my truck.

Now then: I ask. What exactly is the problem here?

^_^

You'd need to do your own headliner. It's pretty simple. I'd suggest actually "making" one rather than painting the current one though. You'll get much nicer results.

cuz if you did a brony theme then soon enough you would think this is cool

The fact of the matter should not be based off of what made you decide your theme. In essence you are no different from any other member of this forum based on the fact that you want to customize and repair YOUR truck, that is what the forum is made for. It is made for the gathering of minds to discuss ideas and to solve problems. You like ponies, so f**king what? Everything you are doing falls under what this forum was designed for. Keep doing what you are doing and don't let anyone's opinion sway you from your decision. To follow up on charlesskelter's comment, you will need to check with just about any upholstery shop to locate the headliner material. If they can do various animal materials then purple vinyl should be easy to locate. A possible purple stripe down the center over a white base coat might be another idea to think about in addition to the headliner. Just saying.

Aye. I may do that soon
As for painting it, that process is already underway!

Personally I don't see a problem here. Is it oddball? Yes, but so is my Mazda-Benz idea, and so are many other ideas on here. Nothing wrong with this.

For the purple headliner, I made one once for an 80 Caprice Classic with purple corduroy, and used a purple pleather/corduroy combo for the door, steering wheel center, and trim panels, and a light sky blue for all the plastic trim. With a dark purple paint outside (grape) it would have looked awesome (motor blew up before paint could happen though.)

I think with the right open mind, u can make it work and look good. just don't let criticism bring u down, we all get it once and a while, people thought I had paint all over my floor when I posted a pic of my floor lights once, but I still have them in and use them every time I drive at night. kinda funny actually, but I wanna see what happens, imagine white with an offset purple racing stripe or even just purple decals, white and purple always make for something cool if done right. I still think dudes idea with the diamonds on the ass of the truck is a good idea, keep us posted, some of us are interested.
