You guys seriously gripe too much.
I've looked through this forum, I see plenty of heavily modified trucks on here, some with crazy paint schemes, and otherwise some with modifications so extensive the vehicle barely resembles its original form.
YET... nowhere as of yet have I seen such an overwhelmingly negative response to any particular project idea as here. The only reason I can deduce for this, is because my project idea just so happens to challenge the normally masculine ideals held by the car modification community.
Now then: I ask you this...
So what?
This truck was purchased by me, for a sum total of 1000 dollars, plus 800 dollars in repairs that needed made immediately thereafter. Had I purchased a toyota Corolla, I would have done the same damn thing.
But: given that I like this little truck, I am going to do my best (within budget) to produce a nice looking truck, that will turn heads, especially in the community that I am presently involved in. Jesu! What a tragedy. Its such a shame that when I grow out of the fandom (if or when that happens) that I will look back at the vehicle I poured my heart into, and suddenly despise it because of that tie to my past.
As if.
I bought this truck to have some fun, to fix some things, and most importantly to get to and from work.
I came to this community to get ideas, see cool ideas implemented and import them into my own work, so that when I am done with my project the result is better than it would be were I alone.
I did not come to discuss the details of the fandom to which I belong. You gentlemen most likely do not care, and I understand that. The only reason I cared to mention MLP is because that is the theme I am using for my truck.
Now then: I ask. What exactly is the problem here?
^_^
