how about all these lame reasons to fail us minitruckin guys on inspection. i just recently failed because my tailpipe didnt extend to the outside of my vehicle, and i also failed another because my headlights couldnt be adjusted. im just interested to hear the reasons that any of you guys have failed inspection

lol that would be nice. see there used to be this guy that would throw a sticker on anything, thats where all the mini-truckers around here took their trucks to get them inspected. but he died a week ago...so you know. im screwed basically cause my inspection is a month over and my truck is a daily driver lol. man i got all the cats and muffler and wipers and mirrors and everything but i fail cause of stupid shit like tailpipes. its ridiculous

as long as the tail pipe is beyond the cab they should not fail u . but if they're gona be picky - just bolt on the tail pipe end b4 you go - take it thru then go home unbolt it and hang the pipe up on your garage for the nex inspection .

Here in PA I can avoid emissions by keeping my milage under 5,000 per year. Thats a plus. I got mine inspected in October without any problems. (except him bitching about my adapters). The best thing i have found is 1. Befriend the owner/tech doing the inspection. Hang out with him and bullshit. It takes his mind off what he's doing and also creates a bond. Doing this before you actually take the truck there helps. Knowing the person before hand also helps if they recognize you. 2. Know the law! Read up on your inspection guidelines. I could ramble off specs and dimensions required by law for light spacing and brightness. Not because I like to read, but because it was neccessary. In fact, I even printed out a copy of PA's inspection guideline book (about 450 pages front and back) and high lighted specific sections that I deemed relevant. I keep it on my dashboard.

If all else fails, go to another shop. I realize this trial and error method would be expensive though. Ask local hot rodders or custom shops where it's 'easy' to get inspected.

I know here in VA they fail you for anyting that isnt stock. I have found in fixing these trucks up where to go around here to get things done. The place I go now passes me b/c they think it is cool and they know all the major safety stuff is still there.

For dragorbust, I live close to the NC line and most of the people that I know from NC dont even have to take their trucks to the inspector. I guess its just the difference in where you live. You will find someone that will pass your truck.
