Baggedb22, SORRY BOUT THAT DUDE, I ONLY HAVE INTERNET ACCESS AT WORK, I WAS OFF SAT, AND SUN. THIS LAST WEEKEND.
YOU SAID "So when i got home i jacked up the ass end and counted the times the driveshaft went around. 1 complete revolution of the wheel the driveshaft only spun around twice so that would mean im in the 500 (somthings correct me if im wrong!) But i need to no if any other stock mazda has lower gears! Or if any company makes lower gears for my truck 65mph, im tackin like 3500 rpm...
HELP!"
I BELIEVE THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE ROTATED THE DRIVESHAFT AND COUNTED THE TIMES THE TIRES TURNED.... , AND I THINK THAT THE CARRIER ON OUR AXLES HAS A STAMP WITH THE GEAR RATIO, OR A "VIN STAMP" THAT TELLS WHAT IT IS. ALL 86-93, 2 WD B2200'S , AND 86-87 B2000'S HAD THE SAME REAR GEARS BOTH IN THE AUTO AND MANUAL TRANNYS (3.909:1), THE 4WD'S HAD LIKE 4.11'S AND YOU CAN SWAP OUT THE CARRIER WITH THE MAZDA NAVAHO'S, THE ONLY THING YOU CAN GET FOR THE 4 WD REARS IS A LOCKER, AND THEY ARE HARD TO FIND. AS FAR AS THE 2 WD REAR, THE CARRIER IS SUPPOSED TO BE A DIRECT SWAP WITH THE 86-91 RX-7 GXL'S BUT THE GEARING IS THE SAME BUT IT IS LIMITED SLIP. NOW THE TRANNYS FROM AN 84-85 RX-7 ARE GEARED THE SAME AS OURS, LESS THE FIFTH GEAR, WHICH IS .807:1 (12A ENGINE), .711:1 OR .758:1 (13B ENGINE), COMPARED TO OUR TRUCKS WHICH ARE .858:1, WHICH WOULD LET YOU TURN LESS RPM AT SPEED.
WHAT I WAS LOOKING AT DOING IS GETTING A REAR END FROM A YOTA 4WD, THEY COME WITH A PLETHERA OF GEAR RATIOS (3.58:1, 3.909:, 4.10:1, 4.11:1), THEY ARE BEEFIER, HAVE LIMITED SLIP, AND YOU CAN GET A DISC BRAKE CONVERSION FROM DOWNEY OFF ROAD. WITH THE 3.58:1 AND A RX-7 TRANNY WITH .711:1 FIFTH GEAR YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO RUN @70 MPH AND TURN @ 2000 RPM DEPENDING ON TIRE SIZE, BUT WITH THAT REAR GEAR RATIO (3.58:1) YOU WOULDN'T GET OUT OF THE HOLE AS FAST! GO TO GOOGLE AND TYPE IN GEAR RATIO & RPM CALCULATORS AND CHECK OUT SOME OF THEM TO GIVE YOU A BETTER IDEA...
GOOD LUCK!
