That looks more involved than just a proportioning valve. And they are usually located with the booster. I could be very wrong though.

Hmm.... Idk anyways:

Wednesday Aug. 16, 2006!

Ok, So Here is a pic of my new tank:

Now, there is a problem. The guy that I bought it from (Idiot) Said that the fuel injected motors use the smae tank as the carbed motors.

The new tank has many different things...

Ok to start off, it has the breather (btw this tank is a 93 so things may have changed) I think I can keep the breather and hook it up like normal. All of the other hoses are fine. THEN, we come to the wiring. This one has a ton of different wires. This one has a total of 5 wires the old one has a total of 2 wires. I am pretty sure there is extra sensors and what not for emmissions. So my problem is, can I A) hook up wires to run the other sensors, or B) only use the appropriate sensor that I have the wireing for?

Here are pics:

Old tanks' wire connector:

New tanks:

Old tanks sensor area where they all hook up:

New tanks sensor area:

Now, I need to know, can I use this tank?

If I can what do I do with the sensors? Which one can I hook up? (circling it on the pic of the new one would be awesome)

For 50 bucks it seems I got a good deal.

Ideas?

I would swap the sending unit from both tanks

I'd rather not cause my tank is full of rusty chips of metal and the sending unit is probably pooched.

Is it possible to just use the sensor I need?

The two wires on your old tank should just be for your gas gauge. It uses a machanical pump. I would think that the new tank will be fine, but swaping the sending units would be the best way (plus you know it will work).

To find the gas gauge wire in your new tank put a multi meter on it in the Ohms setting. Move the float up and down and the sending unit and the resistance will change. Check your chiltons manual and see it they have any wiring diagrams for it for the other wires..

Ok... So update. Basically screwed...

Old gas tank has the electric gas gauge. Therefore it should have a fuel pump somewhere else. It is not in the engine where the haynes shows it and I can't find it on the frame either.

I would just swap the sending units but mine now has both tubes borken off. My bro was cutting the tubs off and they just fell off the top of the sending unit.

The new tank does have a fuel pump built into it.

I was thinking just finding the fuel pump which must not be mechanical cause its not in the bay meanign it has to be somewhere else making it an electricak pump. Thinking I just might be able to re-root those wires to the tank and use the fuel pump that is in the new tank?

Think that might work?

Otherwise I might try to trade my fuel pump version to a junkyard for the one w.o the pump.

Ideas?

the mechanical pump is going to be on the passanger side at the right rear of the head. on the side. if you still have the stock carburetor you have to pull the air cleaner to see it. it should have like 2 bolts holding it on. i will try to take a picture of where it should be tonight. if i were you i would just go to the auto parts store and get a new sending unit for your original tank and install it on the new tank. hope that helps. i will try to get pics of the mech. fuel pump location tonight.

i'm running a original carb and equus fuel guage and sending unit that matches, I have all custom guages, I could not find a aftermarket guage that had the same 2 wire set up and ohms' sweep, I'm using all equus guages. I'd help ya but ....... I'm a little ways away from Ont.

carb'd trucks have a mech fuel pump, rear passenger side of motor on the head.
fuelie trucks had the fuel pump in the tank.....
fuel guages read 90-0 ohm, most chevy's read 0-90 ohm, so an aftermarket sender would just make our fuel guage read backwards...

here is where the mechanical fuel pump is located, i have an electric pump so this is only a cover for my head.
