is the hobart 140 a gasless, the little bottle wouldnt be a bad Idea never thought about it But still dont have that much room as it is at the moment im going to be bagin the truck out under a small single car tent thing, just dont have a shop big enuff for a car (truck in this case) and even when i do get the welder Im going to get a 10x10 shed to put it in just how it is

THe Hobart 140 comes gasless, but it includes a regulator and can be converted to use gas.

use the gas, it'll make a cleaner weld. i don't think that gas has anything to do with penetration though... it just provides an atmosphere for the weld. air = porousity with a weld, it needs that argon shield!
if you do get the gas, use a 75/25 mig mix of argon and CO2. you can use 100% argon too, but i'll be a little more expensive

i dunno i just find my welds @re with the look better too...it just seems to weld the thicker stuff with it..

agree i used flux with my welder for a couple years then i went to gas. smoother, cleaner and much more productive i think.

it does the job. or everything i need it for.

The gas shields the arc from contaminants in the atmosphere...and some other stuff but havent got too far into reading yet...this is really good for someone who doesnt know how to weld that good....like me..

ive got a gasless lincon mig pak 100, it welds great but just very messy, leaves alot of splatter and that shitty brown crap on it, but works great, and my neighbour has the same with the gas and is much cleaner and moves much faster, now that ive used gas, i want it, but im gonna have to wait

LOL I got the same one and I agree gas is nicer to work with
