i learned to weld in college with gas......

i bought my first welder for $100, like 20+ years old, tiny little crap box 110 with no gas

practiced a whole heep, had lots of fun. tried to make the splatery crap welds nice lol

saved up, shopped around and got a hobart 187 with gas from my work. it welds nicer in my opinion than the $4k unit i used in college.

I have been using my dads snap-on mig Welder. I ran out of gas the other day and i need to get a new regulator but as far as my welds turned out alot better then on a gasless welder I have tried.

why do you need a new regulator?
if you are welding wiith a welder with gas, then it runs outta gas then of course your welds will be crappy, because the welding rod in this case will be ER70-s6. that is to be used only with gas SHIELD. youl'll need a different wire to weld without gas. a flux wire would work..

The regulator leaks a little. I wasnt welding without gas. I know the gas is a shield i said my welds looked better on the gas one then the time i used a different welder that was gasless with flux core.

Im not woried about looks right off if i can get good strong welds I would be able to grind them down and make them nice

just my thoughts
