Okay. Problem started - when I went to take a right turn. Hit the multiswitch like every time, blinked once, stopped blinking. Pulled over. Tried the hazards; blinked once, stopped blinking. Replaced the hazard fuse, hazards work fine, no turn signals.

Sounds like a flasher, right? Except my idiot lights, fuel guage, and temp guage went out at the same time, and come back online when the blinkers do. (note - my guage lights, the actual let-me-see-my-damn-guages lights, have only worked intermittently since I bought the truck, and seem to be a separate problem)

If I turn the ignition on, hit reverse (manual transmission), and turn the lights on (headlights or parking lights), the turn signals & guages work, whether the truck is running or not.

If I turn the headlights on, no matter what, my backup lights come on with the taillights.

If I hit the brake, with no lights on, the front corner lights, tail lights, and backup lights turn on.

The blinkers & guages also work with the truck off, if it is in reverse, and the brake pedal is down.

This feels like one of those damn math word problems. I'm spending the rest of my night studying wiring diagrams, frustrated.

and yes, I'm pretty sure it's either a short or a ground problem.. tomorrow after work, though, I'm going to need a good point to start looking at. "It sounds like a short" and "probably check your grounds" are things I've got figured out. Thanks in advance, though, because somebody's going to say it anyway. heh.

lol, hahah lmao, damn, i was going to say check your main ground, damn man, that would be driving me nuts. something is sharing a ground on the rear end. its probably something simple lol wow i cant stiop laughing thats so shitty man i really wanna knwo what it is so when you firgure it out lemme know man, sorry i cant help too much, wish i was there to help

When My Dash Lights Go Out My Tailights Do To If That Helps Any At All. I Was Stupid And Rewired My Tailights Cuz Of It And It Ended Up Being A Blown Fuse. Then I Had A Short With One Of My Tailight Wires And My Dash Kept Trying To Catch On Fire. If I Was There With A Voltmeter And Wiring Diagram I Could Prolly Help

still no luck. Pulling the connector on the switch behind the brake pedal fixes part of the problem, but not all of it, and the problem isn't in the taillights, even with a couple crusty bulbs. I think my reverse/backup light stopped working after I pulled & replaced the bulbs, though. Replaced my 'meter' fuse, hadn't noticed it was blown too. Didn't fix anything, didn't expect it to. I'm still looking for all the grounds, and wondering why this happened now of all times, because my "reliable, daily driver" honda threw the timing belt and my bike is in mid-project mode right now too. Damn. At least I can walk to work, right? Stay positive.. stay positive..

Tomorrow I hope to check the wiring around the transmission.. need to pick up my jacks and stands to do that, though. yippee.

The alternator ground circuit is the main grounding point for the entire truck.Be sure ur alternator is grounding good when u check all the other grounds.BJ

least hondas are non interference engines

ooh, hope that was just a mean cut at honda in general. I've had a love/hate relationship with both the the hondas I've had. most of 'em are interference, including mine, and I was going 70 at time of death.. haven't actually opened it up to see if my valves are smashed or anything yet.

I hope to be driving the mazda legally by Monday. hope being a key term here. I'm no electrical whiz.
