You want to make a mazda go fast with the stock motor put 3 big rockets on the back and hold on bro. LOL hahahahaha sorry man not trying to be an ass but I feel that doing anything to the stock motor is a waste of time when you can put in a 350 chevy or a 302 ford for alot less than trying to get the snail motor to give you any speed. Right now I am getting this guy up here a 350 tpi like mine with mounts and eveything he needs to put it in for $2300 and that includes wiring all mounts and hard ware drive shaft re-fitted and a nissan rear end like mine the only thing he isn't getting from me is the rad and fan as he already has the fan and is building the rad and even one for me and oh ya the header as together we are building a few to sit better than whats out there.

I think what 90-b22Dawg is talking about is nascarguy3 is going on peoples thread and just posting he has that motor for sale...

Just to point out.

Now that is done everyone is pretty much right these motors are not meant to go fast. Mazda did not have Zoom Zoom in mind when they built them. But you do have some options like others have said the 350 swap and 302 swap. The 302 is most likely to be easier than the 350. dizzy in the front on the 302 in the back on the 350 might have firewall problems. (note I said Might) the 4.3 is ok like said before there pretty good little motors. tough as nails in most cases but if your gone do all the trouble of a 4.3 why not do a 350.

Anther option is a Kia motor. The great thing about it is you can use all your stock stuff from the tranny back. there almost a bolt in job and with a custom megasquirt system or the stock kia computer your gaining 140 hp right off the bat (more with the megasquirt system) I plan to do the Kia swap in mine

So good luck with what ever you chose. and take lots of pics and show us most everyone here loves work log's with lots of pics

A small block swap you'd be awesome, but then i can't get insurance, especially considering i'm only 18. I think an awesome swap would be putting the twin scroll turbo, direct injected, ecotec from the saturn sky redline. 260hp and 260ftlbs of torque in an engine that ways half what a small block does and will fit in without much work at all because it's a four banger. Don't get me wrong, i'm a chevy guy through and through and you can make sick amounts of horsepower from a 350 (you could even fit a 400 since it's the same block), but it would be neat to have a small highoutput engine. And as a plus, the small increase in weight wouldn't effect your handling or ride height. The only problem is finding an engine from an almost brand new car. Another awesome idea is the rotary engine, sick power from a small engine and almost limitless rpm if built properly.

swap the engine. Kind of a waste of money for carb, header, etc... when for a little more you could have at least 2 or 3 times as much power.

domestic v-6's & v-8's are nice if you want to spend the time shoehorning them in the truck, but not to nice on the gas mileage you'll get, plus the extra weight of one, on the upside, the oem & aftermarket parts availability of one are endless....the saturn/pontiac/gm ecotec is a good idea, theres a guy with a honda s2000 engine in one, several guys that have done the kia swap which is pretty easy, and with some time & money could be made into an economical 4-cyl performance motor. the rotarys are nice, and several have been put into these trucks aswell. they will wind up tighter than dick's hat band, and can put out enormous amounts of power from a small package, but they aren't notorious for having much torque.....best bet for you is to sit down figure out how much $$ / time you want to spend, also what your looking for in the truck as far as being pracitcal for your useage, and then go from there......

I myself would like to see something on the exotic side (thinking outside of the box) like a wrx or porsche engine or a small turbo diesel put in one .....gobbs of hp & torque, with the benefits of being light weight and fuel efficient, not to mention just kool as heck to see in a mazda!!

Sounds like a good business idea: We are always getting posts about increasing hp.Somebody needs to do a step-by-step video of a Kia,302,350 ,12A-13b ROTARY,2.3 Ford turbo swap into a Bseries with a parts list/prices and market and sell it.Someone could make some serious bucks. One more vid would be juicing up the stock 4 banger the right way.BJ
