What has everybody elses b2600 topped out at? I was right around 120mph. With a decent time to get there.

The 4.3 vortec motors are very good motors and give very good power to these trucks and yes its a smaller version of the 350 with the same amount of work to install it...

ive seen mazdas with 4.3s in them man, they put out like 180 hp stock and would get better gas milege than a v8, plus they have many parts for them, i dont think its a bad idea, ive actually thought about one for my truck

yes sir...if it was a 5 speed regular cab that bitch would haull some serious ass. number one it would handle like a dream compared to the v8 and number two you havent got a chance in hell of gettin a b'series (tin can with a bed) to hook if you got a v8 in it. but you put some sticky tires under the 4.3 and you could probably get it to launch...it would be an interesting 1/8th mile race.........

There is a guy here locally that put a 350 with automatic in a 2200 extended cab with a fuel cell in the bed and a solid bed cover. He let me drive it and it was totally a waste.U could not hit the accel at all without the rear breaking loose and trying to rotate around and pass the front end.On its third rear end and could not keep tires on it.I would suggest something a bit milder.Lol.BJ

The 4.3 has a 5 speed trans bolted up to it...

You know, here in So Cal, I have never really been able to justify spending the money on horsepower for any of my rides. Considering the traffic and such, but I have always dreamed of campaining a B-series at bonneville...with a yoked out normally aspirated 22r Toyota. I see two webber side draft carbs, a crazy cam and custom headers. Maybe add nos and a supercharger later. On the other hand, a 500cui Caddy crate is about 2000 and puts down gobs of torque! If you fill the bed with concete, you might get it to hook...lol

I know when i did my 2.2 with the header, weber (with port match) and the best part a MSD 6-al box and blaster coil. It really broght my truck alive. Yes the top end it is turning up the rpm but i think with tires i could get that down some. It has plenty on the bottom end! I might play with a cam on the next one i build

i like the idea of the 4.3 good power to weight ratio. good bit of aftermarket support. fuel injection reliability. you can buy bolt on edc units. you can probably buy bolt on supercharger kits if the power wasnt enough for you. and mainly its different from the sb chevy. you also wouldnt have to cut fire wall for distributor clearance. this is just my opinion though. id say if you have one available i would go for it.
