flux cored is not MIG. flux core is flux core. MIG stands for Metal Inert Gas. meaning you have an inert gas shielding the weld from the atmosphere (argon, CO2, argon/CO2 mix). MIG welders have external source of gas.

what is the model # of your lincoln welder?

If it is the 100 series wether it be a weldpak 100 or the 100HD, or some other lincoln 100, don't bother spending money on the gas hookup. the max you'll be able to weld with that welder with a gas hookup is 1/8th. just stay with flux core, use .035 flux core wire for thicker metals. it'll work better than a .030 wire.

if you have say a lincoln 3200HD, 135, 175, etc. then yes go buy a gas bottle. it'll be well worth it.

yea bro just get some .035 wire, it'll help on thicker stuff. i have a lincoln weldpak 100, and it is what i used on my truck. just takes twice as long to weld beads because you have to sit on them longer to get them to penetrate all the way and make a good fat, flat bead.
