I think I may have figured out the problem with your grinder. Most grinders use blue dust to run correctly. When the blue dust leaks out - they stop running;-)

did you take the grinder apart with the hacksaw....LOL
madbagger   +1y
yea the blue dust is from the case being sawed apart. it was smoking and sparking alot the last time i used it so i figured i had nothing to lose when i took it apart

sometime that sparks and smoke is form dirty internal or worn internal parts, of which you can almost always buy from an electric motor repair shop...

get a pic of the other side you can have welds that "look good" but are pure crap take a pic of the other side and we can see how the penatrion(sp) is

the weld look good on the surface.....but at the very beggining of the weld you can clearly see the lack of penetration.....

a couple tricks....1" clean the metal very good...any rust or scale will adversly affect the quality of the weld... and 2 make sure the metal is heated up a little....that way it is easier for the welder, at least the little 110v ones to penetrate....this should not be a problem on any decent 220v welder.

Also maybe turn the heat up higher if you can.

Yea I saw that I wonted to see if it got any better in the middle or at any point.

i dont think a pic of the other side would do any good bc i welded both sides. i have a 110v welder and its turned all the way up to weld 3/16". i see what u mean about the beginning of my weld im gonna bave to work on that.

on my welder it also says that for it to weld 3/16" you have to do multiple passes. does that mean multiple passes on top of each other or a single pass on both sides of the metal?
