Ok I'm all over figurering out why my heat is not the mazda heat I once had. If you haven't seen my recent posts you might check them and see what this thing has been through in the past month. Long rebuild heat is low on the list but its cold here so its a must. Currently 14

I will try and keep this short.I use lime away to flush my cooling systems. This is safe and you do have to do 2 rinse cycles to ensure a clean water system. Now if the heat is not up to par and heat controls work, and thermostat good.I would start by replacing the radiator if the original. The heater core while even flushed cannot always work as a good unit when 20years old.In short my heat worked fine, but updated my rad,htr core, and waterpump(which was leaking).Heat is much better than even before. The new units come as plastic with aluminum or just aluminum based on brands.I also recommend blocking off a partial of the radiator when super cold, this speeds the heat and reduces loss due to extremes. If you replace the radiator or heater core new hoses are a must to prevent re-work later imo.I can remove my dash in about 1 hr but, this is due to knowledge and owning for 27 yrs.I would at least do a new radiator and core.Just my take.

Thanks for all the input. But this is on a budget at the moment. I will keep all those upgrades in mind

mine has worked evertime i back flush it. i used cleaning vinegar in mine. its like 6% acidic. I dont exactly remember but it works great for me. I pour it in and let it sit about 2 hr then take air and blow it out. then repeat until satisfied.
