Not so with mine !!!

I've owned my '88 Cab Plus 18 years, have taken it everywhere, it's my daily driver. It needed towing once, clutch gave out when Mrs. Cusser took it out of town. Yes, in the 1990s it stalled on side of road for me due to bad ignition switch, but never stranded me. I've probably taken it out of town (105 to 150 miles each way) about 100 times in the last 8 years, now 190K on it.

The farthest I've taken it is 450 miles away when Mrs. Cusser and I went on a seven-day cruise about 1996.

When it sounds like you drive a diesel when you dont.

When you get better gas mileage than some of the econoboxes on the road today.

When it smokes at almost every start but somehow doesn't use any oil.

If I were afraid to drive any of my vehicles anywhere I wanted to go, it's Would be time to fix or sale it! I understand Things happen but if i'm afraid to drive it it's time to let someone else push it!

Being I have owned mine for 25yrs only 1 time on the road side.Bad new fuel pump broke(idk why) but had the wife bring the old one with a few tools and swapped old leaky fp to get me home.Other than that 198k and spot on great truck.Granted I bought it brand new,and cared for it does make the difference.

I was afraid to drive it to work when I first rebuilt it but now that I have most of the kinks worked out...I drive the crap out of it and my Challenger sits at home. I wasn't going to fix it up and make it pretty again but I've decided to go ahead and make it pretty again. Going to do some body work, put my Z71 wheels on it and take that dang cap off of it and put a bed cover on it. Little by little it becomes more reliable every day...part by part, little tweak here, little tweak there.
