If I had 3 hands, I'd use 'em all on this one. I have stock 14" steelies, so it shouldn't be this difficult. Thanks....I am going to start using the phrase "2 hander" in addition to "armstrong".

waa cry. lols. i have been driving my b2200 with no power steering for the last eight years. i run 195/60r14's in the winter and 215/60r15s in the summer in the front. its honestly not that difficult. and i am running an aftermarket grant steering wheel.

I'm not crying, the only time it becomes annoying is parking lot manouvers, the ratio is horrible, I usually have to slow down because I cannot turn my wheel fast enough lol. The power steering trucks have a different steering rator, my truck takes 5.5 turns to go full left to full right lock, when I had my 88 with power steering it was 3.5 or something like that, was a big difference, and that was super easy to turn, was a 1 finger turner in parking lots lol.

I upgraded to PS when I swapped my 2600i into my B2000. I only upgraded because the donor truck had all the parts. Upon removal, I was really surprised to find the manual box so difficult to turn. I have even put a pair of vise grips on the splines to get it to turn... it's unbelievably difficult. However, like I said previously, the second box in my garage is easy to turn by hand.

I have no problems driving mine with no ps and 245/45/17s on all four corners. It's only slightly harder than driving a car with power steering.

So unless you have the upper body strength of a small child with one arm, I'd say there's something going on in that steering box. U can try to check the grease or adjust it but it may be too late.

There is a jam nut on top of the box with a slotted screw, you loosened the jam nut and turn the screw, I would back it off then tighten it only enough to take away the slop in the steering wheel.

Also, put as much air as you can in the front tires - whatever the max on the sidewall stays.

Thanks! I will try that.

no to the side walls say. use between 30-32 psi in the tires NOT 40-45. our trucks say 27 on the door but that's too low.

I agree.
If you max the tire pressure without a heavy load, you'll wear out the center of the tire first.
