We used a pressured container with line hooked to pump during start up that fill lines and galleys with oil. Same way we prime sprint car engines on initial startup.

When all else fails, blame the technician.

I hope you will be letting us know what you and the pit crew find out.

Ha ha no doubt. Just pulled the crankshaft and bearings it definitely quit oiling, bearings and crank are much worse on opposite end of engine from oil pump. I am still curious if there is a chance on the bypass on pump got stuck ? I think the crank can be saved. And I am definitely getting another oil pump for peace of mind.

Is there any chance that one or more of the main caps got installed 180 degrees out or maybe on the wrong saddle?

They are matched (line bored) from the factory and need to be reinstalled in the same location they come from.

As far as your oil pressure question is concerned, I don't think that is an issue, due to the running at 38 psi at 3000 rpm. The 4 psi at idle showed up after the damage had already been done. It would have been a little higher if the clearances were at spec.

Saddles are in correct sequence all arrows pointing right direction. Checked cam journals on my new head somehow they look perfect.

Here is another question. When the truck blew the head gasket, did it involve the water jacket, and if so, which cylinder got the water in it?

Maybe that cylinder hydrolocked and if somone tried to keep running the truck it bent the rod enogh to where it didn't line up with the crank anymore.

The offset would lower the oil pressure at that rod and crank position enough to where failure would show up after awhile.

This is just a suggestion and would explain some things.

Good question . When head gasket blew it out oil into the water but no water into oil. I think the crankshaft is telling me something! Thrust area on crankshaft looks real bad. I don't remember what endplay measurement was but I cant believe how worn it is at thrust area. I'm pretty sure this crankshaft will be junk.

What ever happened with this problem; what did it turn out to be?

Just got everything ironed out !!! Turned out the steel plunger in the oil pump had hung and was letting it bypass. Company did replace pump but had to buy a crankshaft and bearings, and also went ahead and had block bored 20 over and installed new pistons. It runs like a dream now !!! Dustin
