update: read the 4th post
i had an awesome day today racin at the kart track and am real pumped about it so i thought i'd share. we showed up to the track freezing our asses off in the morning with a fresh rebuilt broken in motor. this is after about a year and a half of ongoing problems with it. the motor has been shipped off about 5 times in that time period due to the companies f-ups at attempting to fix it and 'ef somethin else up. came to about $1500 in repairs total. i have pretty much been racin other peoples karts or showin up to have something break and not be able to race. the motor has 4 cracks in the nikisil plating on the cylinder bore. the nikisil plating was fresh from one of the previous places we sent it to but when the motor overheated because the builder f'd up that caused a head gasket to blow.
anyways back to the day. it was so cold and had such good compression due to the rebuild we couldnt get it started. tried pretty much everything including putting it in the trailer with the space heater on it to warm it and get all the slush out of the radiator. it was starting to look like another one of those days. after missing all of practice not gettin it to start, we decide to pull it with my dads dodge ram. it worked . we barely got everything ready just before qualifying. i head out there and qualified on pole out of 10 guys. i iwas real excited about it but still kinda worried bout the motor making it through the races.
we do standing starts which get pretty wild. you guys probably have no idea how fast these things accelerate. you pretty much drop the clutch at 11,000 rpms and take off. i got a great launch and immediately pulled away and went on to finish 7 second ahead of second. the main event pretty much went the same way even though i had an air leak through on my beadlocks and my back tire was goin flat. i still caught up to 5th and 6th place on the last lap to put them a lap down but just backed off and cruised to a win just behind them. sorry for the novel but i am just really excited bout how the day went. and im a little drunk and on hydros tryin to get my backpain to go away

those are sweet arent they! my buddy has one he runs in the 125cc class...i built one similar last year that has a 02 R6 motor on it...lol...it was a phantom offset frame , i had to stretch it some to accomidate the motor

yeah they are. this one runs in the 125cc class too. its a TM125 dynoed at 44hp w/ a 6 speed

i just had a dream come true about an hour a go. i just got a call from someone that saw me racing at the track yesterday. he wants to put me in a kart next season racing for his team in the regional series and at nationals. it would be in a brand new '09 kart with a motor that the builder has many national championships under his belt. all i would have to do it just go to the track to race. a mechanic would take car of the kart and they would deal with all the travel of they equipment.
i cant even explain how big of an oppurtunity this is for me as racing at that level has just been too hard ficancially to be able to keep up lately. i am f*ckin stoked!!

Congrats man,that is awesome! I've always been into kart racing,and did a little amateur indoor endurance kart races here at a local kart track outside of Toronto. Half mile track, 300 laps....took about 3 hours. Best I places was 6th after started in 18th and getting up to 3rd place and blowing the 3rd place position at a crappy pitstop.
