My 90 b22 wit fe3

I know the engine aint much to look at now but it's almost running.


Truck was bought outa a junk yard for $300 bucks. cheap for a complete truck that was perfect outside


It was perfect till i went to get it and i saw they hit the lower rear box wit something and hit the front wit the loader

So, I have a question for you and anyone else reading this thread...

Where can I find a complete run down on this swap? It seams that there are bits and pieces scattered around, but nothing with all the info in one. Basically what needs to be done to swap the FE3 into a carbed b series? Fuel delivery/ return? Stand alone computer on the new motor? If not where do you tie it in? Do the stock guages work with the swap? Ect. I could go on and on. Where did you get your info on the swap?

As far as where i got my info from it was matthole who inspired me to do this. Im not one for after market computers so i used the stock harness and ecu. For the fuel delievery i used a mid to late 80s ford frame mounted fuel pump and kept the stock return setup. The wiring all depends on what year motor and harness you use. Mine is out of a 95 sportage and my harness was different then mattholes. Anything you need info on just ask and ill do my best to help. good luck

Is the Kia computer stand alone? Or does it have to tap into the mazda harnes? I am guessing it does for guages, that is if they work with the swap. Does it tie into the mazda harness in order to run though?

In order to run no the harness doesnt tap into the mazda harness. I used my stock positive cable and the wires attached to hook up the starter so you dont have to cut into the ignition wiring. Havent got into the gauges yet.

Cool, keep us posted on how it goes. I will probably be doing the swap, or a swap of some sort before emissions time comes up in about a year. Unless anyone knows any tricks to passing emissions with a webber and pasesetter.

I wanna do this swap too, im goin to u pull it tomorrow to see what they got... they have a 95 and two 98s so i'll see if they have motors.... So you use the kia engine harness and wire it into the mazda computer??? I have a b2600i so mine may be different than a 2200... i dont know. And i heard the trans bolts up to this motor??? Is that a b2200 trans?? Is that even true??

I used the kia harness and it doesnt need to wire into the mazda harness at all. once you do the swap you can get rid of your stock computer all together. Anr yes the trans bolts direct up the block for mazda trucks is the same as the kia block. Anything else just ask.

I think im gonna try to do the swap then slowly upgrade the motor with a turbo and stuff... I'm kinda gettin freaked out by lookin at the guys with the flatbed mazda.... I want a turbo for sure. thats one of my biggest draws to this swap. I love turbos. I guess i need to slow down and get the motor in first haha
