dont forget theres some sorta sensor that bolts to a kia trans so you gotta notch a hole in your trans to fit that sensor.. also you need to get the whole kia harness and kia computer and throw out your mazda stuff cuz you wont need mazda harness with a kia motor.. also from my understanding, mazda miata valve covers fit on these motors so you can make it look like a stock motor for a mazda

cool, ya miata intake makes it lower profile too right??? Cuz im bodydroppin my truck as well... Im not too worried bout the crank sensor. So if i got the kia computer and harness, whats the wiring that needs to be done that i've read so much about???

So fe3 motor, harness and computer.... 5 speed mazda transmission, kia flywheel, mazda clutch, miata intake manifold..... I'm doin a 300zx IRS so i'll have a driveshaft custom built, i heard about a place that'll make an aluminum one online for pretty cheap....

I'm gonna go check tomorrow to see what the junkyard has, i'll bring the camera

The sensor is easy in the tranny. an 11/16 hole saw works perfect. And why would you change to the miata intake? Mine fits perfectly under my hood.

sounds like you got it covered, but the wiring ive read about would be ignition, lights, fuel pump, everything electrical on the truck under the hood will need to be looked at.. you might need a different fuel pump but i dont know about that yet

I used the stock positive cable with the stock ignition wiring and hooked it to the starter. The wiring isnt bad i got a haynes manuel for the mazda. Then went to the kia dealer and asked the parts guy for the engine wiring harness diagram. He said ok and printed it off for me. As for the fuel i used a frame mounted mid 80's ford fuel pump.

you use the kia starter?? and my truck is a 2.6l fi motor so i dont think i'll need a pump...

Im goin to check out the junk yard today.... saturday. they have 3 sportages, i gotta see if they have motors. If they do, i can get the motor for 200 bucks

Well no luck with the crossmember... they want 50 bucks for it... geez...

But there was 4 sportages, one had a nice lookin motor in it. I didn't pull it apart or anything but it looks clean. Its out of a 98. The only thing that concerned me from takin a gander at it was the spark plug tubes were wide open so there was water in each one. You think thats bad or jus tip the motor over to the side when i pull it out and dump the water out???

I took a few pics, the first one is the motor i think i'm gonna get... theres a pic of a mazda manual tranny... a pic of the 3 other motors... the last pic was one that had a header?!?! I think i'm gonna pull that off and put it on my engine so i can get it when i buy the motor haha. What do you guys think???
