ok after a late night of GTsnowracing i was sitting at a stoplight when my headlights went super bright and shut off, thought to myself, "thats not good" , then looked at my amp guage, (normally running around 13 ithink) and its up at like 70, all my interior lights were like looking at the sun, then my wipers turned on full, signals turned on, and then everything stopped, including the truck, it all shut off, now i have no power to anything except the hazard lights,

what do the mazda gurus think?
my thoughts were the voltage regulator, but im not good with electrical diagnostics, so any help would be amazing,
if it matters, its a 91 b2200, carbed, power nothing (except the seats i put in)
thanks for the time and help in advance

That is very unusual, so what did those little guy's look like?... Honestly If It were in my presence I might tell ya, but Not right off.

I would check your fuses.. if you supply too much power than the fuse amperage allows then they will pop. I would take off the alternator and have it checked out and see if the voltage regulator is good (internal on the b2200 alternators). Or maybe the alternator blew out a rectifier diode or something and put out a shit ton of power and then blew fuses. Let me know what you find.. any burnt up wires or what not.

O.. also the fusable link to the alternator

will do boss, ill be starting my search and destroy for the cause of this problem thursday night i think, i assumed it had an internal voltage regulator, but ill check fuses before work tomorrow and let you know how they look.
and the alt. is going to be checked out for sure
thanks for the quick replies guys...........this sites great because of people like you

so i went out to check the fuse panel and only 1 fuse is blown, the "engine" fuse, so i swaped it out and now i have power to my interior lights but still nothing else, friday ill be pulling the alternator and checking wiring

did you check your underhood fuse panel?

have the alternator checked, check all fuses, and wiring for shorts, also might want to look at the wire running from the coil to the dizzy, it could have shorted caused the voltage spike......good luck hope you get it fixed!

since it was mentioned, I'm leaning toward the Alt. regulator and rectifier are a distinct possibility
