I have a one owner 92 B2200 with automatic.Truck has been maintyained by the book with Mazda parts. Tuned every 10k. Starts and runs well, mileage fair.Problem: Top speed is 80 mph.I know the truck has a 3.90 rear axle, but it should do better than 80. Any suggestions? Thanks. BJ

NOS!

If you want to mod it, start with the basics, intake and exhaust, that is the most common to start getting more power, then youve got a whole lot of other things you can do, such as bore your enigine, port & polish etc..

If you want something fast. Go outside. Pour gas all over the motor. Light it. Watch it burn. Then go buy a v8.

^ first take the motor outa the truck then set it on fire

FIRST LOOSE THE AUTO TRANNY IF YOUR LOOKIN FOR MORE POWER...
IS THE TRUCK FI, OR CARB'D, IF CARB'D GET A WEBER OR HOLLEY, PACESETTER HEADER, AND SWAP THE 5TH GEAR IN THE TRANNY FOR A 5TH GEAR OUT OF AN RX-7 (86-93) THAT WILL GIVE YOU MORE TOP MPH, PUT IN AN ELECTRIC FAN SETUP, AND LOOSE THE FACTORY CLUCH FAN. GET AN AFTERMARKET IGNITION SYSTEM...JUST A FEW THINGS YOU CAN DO TO PEP UP THE OLE MAZDA... BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR MORE THAN
150 HP, AND AREN'T LOOKIN TO SINK A BUNCH OF MONEY DO WHAT BLARE SAID AND GET A V8 OR V6

Thanks to all the idiots that posted burn the engine. am not interested in getting rid of a perfectly good 2200 engine. I am aware of boring ,porting ,polishing, three angle valve jobs, etc. I am also aware of NOS, but Nos in a 127K stock engine would be a sure route to total destruction.Since truck is automatic, I dont think that a gear ratio change is possible.I was hoping that someone would have a tuning/timing/jetting/ignition solution that would add just a few mph to an otherwise great ride. ??bj

sorry about the nos comment, I just thought it was funny. More performance from a b2200 automatic and retaining the motor- could always go FI with standalone engine management, ford edis ig, maybe a turbo and manifold from the probe. Want to keep it carbed? Weber/holley 5200 will always give you more power. Want the heapest upgrade that yeilds the most power improvement, in my experience it's a pacesetter header, hands down. The stock mazda exhaust manifold and pre cat are so restrictive. Pacesetter gives you a huge throttle response.

does the pacesetter really help out that much? i just knocked all of the crap out of my precat. and am rolling with the stock manifold, magnaflow cat, 40 series flowmaster, and 2.5 inch pipes, and must say sounds great. i have had several people ask me if i have a v-8 in her. with a redline carb, no a/c (for less drag on the crank), bored her out 20 over, no emissions, and other little stuff, she gets up to 60 pretty quick and topps out about 95. is yours carb, or injected?

the pacesetter will open you exhaust more! it makes a difference I could tell when I just had that one my truck then I added the weber 38 and the the 2.25 exhaust and she is purin really good now! If you have the exhaust done you just wasting power not have the header!
