Just fyi, I used to have an '86 B2000. It had a 2.2 carb. jetted, both cats gutted, a glass pack to muffle the rumble (sounded good for a 30$ glass-pack) timing slightly adjusted, and a edelbrock air filter housing with high flow element...........I easily reached 105 with it trying to keep up with the "rice-racers". Then again, no emissions here where I am at. Good luck!

Thanks. My last Mazda truck was an 81 2000 Sundowner . It had a stock split manifold with a 2 into 1 header which I separated into real dual exhausts and other goodies with a 5 speed . It would do the ton easy. I changed my 2200 ignition to an Accel 40k volt over the weekend, cleaned and rejetted the carb and put new NGKs in it, and reset the timing.Truck will now do about 95 but it is a stuggle. I think the automatic is just not up to the task plus as some one pointed out earlier it is about as aero as a brick.I am going to stop while I am ahead. It will now at least run fast enough to get me a ticket. Lol.BJ
